Rockwood 2501SS slideout question

We're new to this forum and new since last fall to camping. We've only taken one trip so far, which was last fall, but are looking forward to doing more camping this year. Anyway, we noticed that when the slideout is pulled in both bottom corners have about a 2-inch opening and you can see straight outside to the street. When we showed the guy who works on the trailers at the dealership, he said that is normal for Forest River trailers with slideouts. I have a hard time believing that but would like to check with all of you who are more experienced with trailers to see if your slideouts are like that or if you would know of a solution. Thanks in advance for any help you can give - we're grateful for a site like this.

I can say that on my 2501ss that the only time I see daylight or to the street is if I only put the slide out a portion of the way to get to the bathroom while packing/unpacking after a trip. Otherwise when it is completely in or out, it seals tightly and I see no gaps. Sounds like it may be out of adjustment or missing some part of the seal. Is it flush to the bottom on the outside when in?

We appreciate your reply. We'll check the slideout in the morning to see if it's flush when fully out.

And as well it should be completely flush of course when pulled in which is when it sounds like you saw the ground.

I had the same problem with my 2013 mini 2104s, contacted the factory rep and dropped it off at the factory. They replaced the floor and updated all the seals, problem solved.

On my 2503S when the slide is in I can't see any light from outside around the perimeter. From outside the slide fits very snug at top and there is a slight taper down the side and the bottom is not as snug as the top.

At the top the moulding is tightly compressed and at the bottom slightly compressed.

I have only had the trailer since August, but I have noticed that when the slide comes in it relaxes some when I release the switch after it's fully retracted. By relax I mean I can hear the motor turn a bit and see the slide move out. But it would be a fraction of an inch only.
