Rockwood 5er outside propane connector
Can anyone tell me if the outside propane connector is high or low pressure ?
I'm interesting in getting an exterior propane "campfire"
like on of these: - Little-Red Campfire / Big-Red Campfire
and would prefer to use the onboard propane (and an extension hose/adapter), rather than carrying around a separate propane tank, but I'm not sure if that push-fit connector is high-pressure or low-pressure
(I've only used the sidekick grill twice, mostly due to bad weather on our last couple of trips)

It's low pressure, so you can't use anything with a regulator.

Thanks, I guessed it might be, but appreciate the confirmation.
I guess the only two options are to either take an extra (smaller) tank with us (perhaps one of the 1 gallon / 4.5 pound ones), or put a Tee in at the tank (but then we'd have further to run the line, and would have to have the propane cabinet door open).
Alternatively, I wonder if I could replace the hose to the "campfire" with one without a regulator, but still with a similar adjustment knob ?

Sorry, had a kid meltdown to deal with, so had to cut my previous message short. To continue:
We're basically in the same boat. Since the little red's control valve is built right into the regulator there's no way to bypass it. I'm thinking along your lines were I'd like to get a separate line with just a control valve, but so far I haven't found a ready made one and I've been too pre-occupied to get the parts to make my own.
Instead, we usually either carry a spare 20# with us if we're preplanning to use it, or pull one of the 30's off the tongue when we didn't think to bring the 20 but end up needing to use the little red.

Just dump the hose that comes with the Reds. Replace with a regulator-less hose and use the on off lever on the RV to adjust the flame. This place has some kits:

My Canadian designed and sold Campfire in a Can has a separate valve to control the propane flow hence the flame height.

Sounds like I got the wrong one then. But then again, when you go off to Goshen and end up camping next to boots49, and boots pulls out his little red almost every night, and your DW sees this, and then on the way home you stop by the camping world in Belleville and your DW sees the little red is on sale there, you end up coming home with a little red.
So, the moral of the story is: l blame boots49.

Overall I've seen better reviews of the Little Red compared to the Campfire In a Can, but I will take another look at it ... and at the link provided by hbillsmith.
BTW, I think your logic is flawless Kaadk

Thanks for the link. Those look ideal.
However, I don't remember there being an on/off lever on the 5er. I was just over at the storage place earlier, but didn't think to look. I'll try trawling through some old photos to see if I caught it in a photo, or if not then I'll take a look at the weekend.

An on/off lever on the outside connection on the 5er? Maybe I was reading wrong but have never seen an on/off lever on one.
The outside gas line is low pressure. If connecting something that requires a high pressure line most just remove the regulator off what they are connecting. Say you are hooking up a 2 burner Colman stove, remove the regulator from the stove and you are good to go. You use the controls on the stove as normal.
Sorry if I misread something and am off topic.

I haven't seen one either. The only on/off lever for our outside grill is on the grill propane inlet.
However, I ordered the hoses linked above, one to replace the hose with regulator that comes supplied on the campfire (which has a regulator and adjustment dial), and one as an extension for hooking into the camper quick-connect. That extension has a control lever, which should allow us to adjust the flame on the campfire.
I'll hopefully get to check it out over the weekend.

The lever on the RV hose is to keep someone from seperating the quick coupler while the barbe's on....do a test...try to uncouple it with the lever on...

so it's a locking lever, not a flow lever ?!?
If so then I guess I need some other adjustment valve, though I guess if it shuts off the flow before allowing disconnection then in theory it should still work just fine for limiting the flow to the firepit.
Any ideas ?

What was the fix ?
An inline adjustment knob ? If so how/where did you attach it ?

Campfire in a can has a valve, standard ball valve for gas.

If the lever valve on the hose doesn't work (which to me looks like it should), then I'll just get a 3/8" gas ball valve, and fit it at the campfire end i guess (unless the quick-connect on the other end of the pigtail is removable)
