Rockwood 5th wheel 8281ss

I'm interested in the Rockwood 8281ss. I'd like to know if it is a 30 amp or 50 amp trailer. Anybody know? I can't seem to find this info. Thanks in advance for the help.

From what I can recall it's only 50amp if optioned for the 2nd A/C or prewiring for a 2nd A/C. I'd be the same for all of Rockwood's 5th wheels.

I have a 2011, it is 30 amp and I don't think you can put a second a/c on it, I think you have to have 50 amp to do 2nd a/c. We love it, we have two boys with another on the way so the bunk room comes in handy. Let me know anyway I can help.

Thanks for the quick response and info. At least I can act semi-educated when I start asking the dealer questions.

We recently bought the 8281SS and have been happy with it. Ours had the larger 15,000 btu a/c and it has had no problem with Florida heat.

Is your camper the 30 or 50 amp. We're trying to figure out what to get and we like the floor plan. Thanks.

As a suggestion, you could order with the pre-wire for the second A/C in the bedroom which makes it 50 amp power supply. I don't think that will give anymore flexibility in running things plugged into 120 AC outlets as you will still only have 2 - 15A circuits in the camper. The 50A power supply would allow you to run more appliances at the same time ie. A/C, WH, microwave, toaster, etc. when you have 50A supply at the post. If the site only has 30A supply, the situation would be the same as for a 30A wired camper.

Our unit is a 30 amp unit and we have had no need for more power. I am not aware of a second a/c option.

We have the Flagstaff 8528BHWS which is the sister to the Rockwood but with the closet slide in the master bedroom. It is a 30 amp and we upgraded to the 15,000 btu AC. We have yet to take it on the maiden voyage and will let you know how it does in this Missouri heat wave. Unfortunately it will be a few weeks before we can but I do know we weren't given the option to have a second AC installed when we ordered it. Just the option to upgrade.
