I have a DrawTite 16 K but have the 6.5 box. It is a slide hitch but I've never slid it. I do have an issue with clearance above the box and the underside of the trailer. I decided that with the air bags that raise the back of the pickup, anyway, I removed the raising blocks between the springs and axle. This allows the bed to be much flatter and not be so tall on the back corners. I also found-when I wanted to remove a block from under the front tandem, that jacking up that axle, caused the back axle to raise first! That told me that the back tire was carrying a disproportionate amount of the weight so lowering the back of the pickup, helped level the trailer and thus more evenly load the trailer tires.

Thats my biggest problem now is the 27 gal. tank can't go far on a tankful of gas but, I can carry 10 portable gallons just to make sure I get passed Con. and NY. The price of gas in those two state will bring a grown man to tears.

The 8280 comes with a revolution pin box that pretty much eliminates the need for a slider.
