My recently purchased 2015 8280WS had the sub-woofer mounting brackets located on the front, where they were accessible. IIRC, there were screw holes in the rear of the sub-woofer, like someone had relocated the brackets from the rear to the front.

Mine has the same sub woofer.
I did remove the grill cover. I found an L bracket screwed to the top of the woofer and to the back of the cabinet. I could remove that bracket but when I did I realized there was a second bracket screwed to the bottom/back side of the woofer and into the floor. I cannot get to that bracket because the woofer is almost the same size as the opening in the cabinet.
removal of the fireplace is still needed.

Outside water filter will resolve his filter issue but sounds like he would still have to remove the fireplace to get to his water pump bypass...the engineer who designed this should be fired.

Given your situation...I would absolutely remove the water filter permanently and go with an outside one though. Given all the horror stories in threads here about the FR water filters, many of us have removed them. Your situation is even more pressing, because if that filter housing lets go, by the time you gather your tools and remove the fireplace and access it you will have a lot of water damage....Even if you just get a slow drip, you will never notice it till you have soft or rotten floor issues....if I were in your boots, that would be my #1 priority...just check out threads in here about those filters...just another stupid design by FR, that someone should be fired over.

When I suggested rerouting/relocating the filter, I also said the whole mess which would include moving the water pump.

The person that decided that location, was not an engineer, probably a person with an accounting background wanting to save a few pennies. That person should be Tarred and Feathered and run out of the country.
