Rockwood 8281 Bunkhouse - remodel?

We purchased a 2015 8281 ws and would like to remodel the bunkhouse. It came with a jack knife sofa, which is not large enough for an adult to sleep on, considering build a platform with drawers underneath and removing the bunk. Has anyone else done anything like that?

Seems odd to by a brand new RV where the layout doesn't work for you.

I guess if keeping your warranty isn't a big deal to you, you can modify to your hearts content. You'll have to keep the slide mechanism in mind if you're doing anything with that sofa in the bunkhouse.

The layout is perfect, when we saw the model, it had a cube bed for the bottom bunk. We specifically asked for a regular bunk on the bottom. It came with the jack knife sofa. If we had someone under the age of 10 it might work, not even my 5 ft friends would be comfortable. Removing the sofa and the top bunk and replacing it with a bottom bunk shouldn't be any heavier
