If I make any changes to the truck it will probably be air bags

I pull the 8289WS with a Toyota Tundra 5.7 with added air bags. I have pulled this trailer up and down mountains in Arkansas with no problems. I average 9.5 to 10.5 MPG and have gotten 12.5 but that is with a good tail wind. Down to 7.5 to 9 MPG in the mountains. I like many others watch what I put in the trailer. I only carry about 5 gal of fresh water as we do not dry camp. To help with weight you might consider getting a white 8289WS instead of the diamond package. It will shave off several hundred pounds. I know that is not much but every pound counts when using the smaller truck.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

The 8289WS has one of the best setup that we like in a 5th Wheel. The best thing about it is, my Tundra didn't have any problem pulling it. We just got back from another 660 miles camping trip down the Gulf coast.... Wife and I are loving our trailer... We have the Platinum Package, it's got the double A/C, the Fireplace, 2 Lazy boy chairs, etc and it matches the color of my truck! LOL ... it cost us 34 + tax OTD.. Good Luck to you!!!

We were lookng at this floorplan as well. I know we have lots of power to pull it but I am concerned about the pin weight and my rear axel limit. Can some members give me their actual dry pin weights? I think I will weigh the truck as well. Thanks

My pin weight fully loaded for us is 1650 lbs. According to the cat scales, if I remember right. Took me awhile to figure it out went to the scales 3x's not saying you will have to, but I finally got some help from Dave_Monica. If any member knows about weight he does. You should PM him and he could help you. As far as the unit and quality I have no complaints. I toured the factory and seen the frame they sit on. It is built quite well with 4" channel and gussets welded at the pin site corners, their are some pictures posted somewhere on the forum. It will come with a revolution pin. It can not be changed. It comes from lippard installed already. We even leave the coffee maker on the counter traveling. We have the rear lounge with the lazy boys, that is a great floor plan..........

"actual dry pin weight" is a contradiction of terms.

Dry pin weight is the basic unmodified by ANY options pin weight and should never be used for planning.

Actual pin weights are more usefull.

You can get a good idea by using the GVWR of the trailer and multiply it by 20%

For safe handling, your actual pin weight should fall between 15% and 25% of actual loaded camper weight (with 20% optimum).

My Flagstaff 8526RLWS has an dry pin of 1100 pounds but the actual pin weight is closer to 1500 pounds.

I just got back from weighing my truck(local DOT leave there scales on 24/7 for free). Truck weighed just under 6000lbs with full fuel and 2 people. I am allowed 16000 gross combination of truck and trailer so I should be ok with the 8289WS. The problem is my rear axel weight was 2535 lbs and my max is 4200 lbs. This gives me only 1665 lbs for pin weight(no 5th wheel mounted yet as well). Not sure if that is enough once I add 100lbs for a 5th wheel. Looks like I would be just over the limit on my rear axel. Thanks

You will probably find that you are over your payload limit (GVWR-Actual Truck Weight) more than you are over the rear axle limit.
