Rockwood 8289WS Refrigerator question

I have a small issue with my 83289WS I bet many of you have seen and I wonder what you do. The refrigerator has a notch on the inside part of the handle to prop the door very slightly ajar to keep air flowing when not in use. When I used it on my new Rockwood, then closed the slide out, it forced the door closed putting a small mark on the wood front of the refrigerator and jamming the plastic notch into the inside of the door. How do you keep your door propped so it won't get musty inside? The slide out fits so snugly against the center island that it has 0 space to leave the door ajar.

I do not have this problem with my 2013 8289WS. There is adequate clearance for the fridge door to remain ajar (with the blue keeper) when the slideout is closed.

Same here with our 2014...it is tight against the island but can still keep ajar with the blue thingy ma jiggy.

I have a 2015 and mine must be different as I don't know what the blue keeper (I like thingy ma jiggy better). Mine has a black plastic tab you can fold out to keep the door ajar. Thanks for your input.

We have a 2015 and don't have any of the blue keepers. I didn't know that you could leave it open. I wondered as I thought it should be left ajar.

I dont use the blue spacers. I just crack the fridge door open and it opensjust a bit and rests on the island and the freezer door stays open just a smidge by itself. Ours is an early 2014.

I cannot have my fridge and freezer doors open with the slides closed either. I have to leave the slides open until I'm certain that all is dry in the fridge and freezer. I then close everything up. I do periodically open eerything up and inspect. I did this yesterday and opened both the fridge and freezer. Both were dry as a bone.

I have a 2015 8289ws and I put a box of baking soda in it and change it out monthly during the winter months. Last winter I didn't have any mold.

I guess I'll hit the Arm & Hammer aisle. It seems the 2015 model is just a bit too tight to allow the door to be cracked. As noted the freezer is above the counter top so it ban be propped. I know they changed the refrigerator model to one that is a bit more efficient (and has pretty blue lights), and it would appear sticks out a bit more.

I have a new 2013 8289WS and it too will not allow the frig door to be cracked open with the slideouts in. Although there is plenty of room on the other side of the island. I think it depends on where they place the island during assembly.

I slit a piece of hot water 4" long wrap tubing on each door and also one on the counter in front, and close it up been doing it for 4 years. Also if you move your recliners front to front when travel I also use a piece on the shelves next to them or you will rub a whole in the back. Also protect the wall with were the handle touches it. you will rub off the wallpaper.All learned by experience....

Would you mind being more specific? I can't picture what you're saying, but I am sure it would apply to my Windjammer 3029W, also.

I have the same mark, happened going down the road. I can prop the door open after getting to storage. If i was at home i leave the slide out till fully dry with the door wide open.

My unit is a rear lounge area with two recliners. I have to move them side ways for travel and the slides to close. I like facing them front to front. The one chair handle will be against the back wall. The handle will wear a hole in the wall, you need to put something between it and the wall.

We slide a piece of foam pipe insulation on our handle for travel.
We first tried a pool noodle but the hole inside wasn't large enough for it to slide down far enough to stay on during movement.

That would work fine, I place my dogs bed there in between for storage and took care of the problem of where to stall it and protect my wall.....

gljurczyk...how about the strap that holds the recliners and straps into the floor brackets..do you use that? And while on the topic how about the dinette chairs, do you strap those around the dinette table?
