Rockwood 8317SS

Well, after 11 months with our 06 ROO, we now have it for sale and searching for a four bunk TT.

We are looking at the Rockwood 8317SS ultra lite TT and was wondering if anyone has or knows anyone with this model TT and what their thoughts are.

I would like to stay with the FR product if possible. I have owned two rockwoods so far and have not had any problems thus far.

Check my sig for the link to the 8317SS

Thanks

MrSen

How many kids you got? The Flagstaff 831QBSS is same floorplan. We looked at those as well. We didn't like the fact that thebunks were so close together, so that only 1 kid could change at a time, and the TV location was a little strange too. We opted for the 831 BHSS(Rockwood 8318SS) because it had 2 slides and opened up the rear of the trailer and we didn't need room for 4, but 3. And we always had the dinette and pull out for guests.

We have three kids of our own and always bringing one of the kids friends with us. We are going to a local dealer and see the 8317SS this weekend to see it and will take a closer look at the back bunk space.

Thanks for the input, it will give us something to consider.

We just purchased a 2008 8317SS in mid July. Spent 6 weeks on the Oregon coast soon after. 4 Kids, 4 chihuahuas and a whole lotta fun. Big bunks with lots of space. My buddy got the same model 2 months earlier and my wife had to have it the minute we stepped in to look at it. The only concern that I would be at the foot of the master bed is the dividing/entertainment wall which leaves not alot of room for a tall person. I would recommend that a tall buyer try the bed first to make sure that they are not going to put there feet through the wall. I am 5' 10" with not a lot of space to spare. --Rob

Love ours, best Family trailer for us have 4 year old Son, 2 year old Daughter and 8wk baby girl, love the room and Bike storage, seems to be well built, our last Model was a Keystone Outback 28BHS. This trailer is soooo much nicer, and built better in my opinion.

Thanks for the tips guys......We are currently still trying to sell our ROO and have not yet decided on which TT to get yet.

We have looked at the 8317SS and a few "non forest river" trailers and we are in limbo on which one to get.

I can say one thing, and I hope there are some Canadian dealers reading this post.......I WILL NEVER BUY A TT IN CANADA AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For a one day's drive over the border to Rvwholesalers or other wholesalers over the border, I will save $10,000 canadian (give or take a thousand) and that is with the exchange rate and the custom's or RIV charge.

We have had a 2010 Rockwood 8317SS for 3 weeks now and love it. Have 3 boys 10,8,6 and the 4 rear bunks are great.

We have had our 8317SS for two years now. We absolutely love it. Our boys are 7,6, and 2 1/2. There is more than enough room for those rainy days. However, our camping days are soon coming to an end. My husband is in the military and will be leaving for 6 months next year (of coarse during the whole camping season). Then in 2011 will be deploying as well. We will be soon selling our camper since it will not be in use for two years. The older boys are devastated, but living in Michigan we will still be able to do LOTS of outdoor things.

We've had our 8317SS since June and bought it while on vacation while camping in a 310 TBS Montana. Went with one and came back with another (I don't recommend doing that though). We have 2 boys (6 & 4) and 2 high energy Vizslas (Hungarian pointers) and the space is more that enough. We looked seriously at the double slide but I was not thrilled with the swing bunk and sink outside of the bath.

Good luck!

8317ss

Bought mine in 08 and has been a good unit. Few minor things in the beginning, but nothing real major. Originally had my son and some of his buddies along for Elk season in which we boondock for 3 weeks or so. Now sonny boy and his friends got married and several have their first kids, so I did some mods.
Removed the dinette and put in reclining/rockers. Me and the misses mostly eat on TV trays and much preferred the space to the dinette. I also removed the narrow bunks and added a desk and closet. Works out great for us now. Still have room for another few folks and better use of the space. Can't beat all the storage space available. We went out looking for a new rig this year but just could't justify the prices, not to mention the low balling for trade in.

Best of luck with your decision. I can say I'm pleased with the one I made.

You may want to check RV Direct as well.
Unbelieveable price difference.
We get shafted on vehicles and parts as well
I better stop pointing out how we get taken as I could write forever
So much for free trade!
