Rockwood 8329SS

Hello, We purchased new a 2013 8329SS, never had any issues up to this point, now we only traveled about 7,000 miles and wanted to replace the tires. We were told that the top of the tires have been rubbing on the underside of the trailer, not all the time but probably when hitting bumps or parking the trailer at the campgrounds. The problem is the clearance between the underside and the top of the tire.
The clearance was always real close, but since the trailer was new we assumed it was correct. Now since we wanted to purchase new tires it has become a safety issue. We have contacted Forest River several times since there was recalls for the same issue on other trailers (But was told the 8329SS was not in the recall). Sent pictures, etc but not getting a response yet as to how to fix.

So, if you have a 8329SS travel trailer look under and above each tire to see if you are having rubbing issues, this is a potential issue and severe damage could occur if the rubbing continues, either to the tire or underside of the trailer.

Has anyone else had this issue, we purchased this trailer new in October 2013 and it was one of the first produced of this model, maybe the problem has been corrected on newer models, or maybe not.

For what it's worth, our 2016 Flagstaff sister to your unit has torflex axles and at least 3.5-4" clearance above the tires when loaded.

Wow, is it possible to take a picture, I think Forest River adjusted the clearance by adding a spacer kit after 2013.

I am trying to get our clearance issue corrected?

That's what that is. 8" I beam, 5" spacer, 5.5" below spacer to axle centerline. So 18.5" from bottom of floor to axle centerline.

Did you double check your tire size? Not that it possible to up size a lot. I have 5"+ space. Torsion axles also have clocking angles. It could be that appropriate weight rated axles but the wrong clocking, unfortunately they are not adjustable. I will check to see what my clocking angle is in the next few days.
