But WOW that slide really added weight! 9,539 dry weight. That's one heavy slide!

The cargo capacity is nuts too, only 900# and that's never even close. That's clothes and dishes and not much more.

Now if they will duplicate it and take out the curbside slide. IMO they are a PITA as they take up space under the awning.

Saw this at Goshen. The trailer at the plant has D tires and heavier axles, 16 k Revolution Pin Box and is 18 inches longer. The roof line has also changed barrel roof as opposed to roll off roof . A lot of changes actually! Also has a double door fridge.

I was unable to get GVWR as it was not weighed yet, prototype.

That's 906kg on the yellow sticker... 1997 lbs

That is a pretty pathetic awning over the door and there's going to be quite a gap to the one on the slide.

Wow!! What a wonderful looking floorplan. those slides are awesome.

Do they make those things in a travel trailer also? It seems it could be feasible.

The space inside is huge!

Vin.

Dave, we pointed that out at the factory. They are changing the cargo door out to make it wider and also making the windows smaller to allow the door to move making room for a larger awning.

On our 8289 we have a 8 ft awning and a 9 ft awning.

I guess the people who buy those 'beta'-models on the lots at the links in the OP better like the short awning.

We actually asked about the new Columbus they are building, can not show the pictures!! They are pretty nice 5er's. The first ones are on the line as we toured the plant. We asked about being beta testers!

Also saw the first prototype of the new yet to be named Sabre/replacement for the Sabre. They are a big departure from the current Sabre line.

That's at my local dealer that I've bought all 3 of my RVs. Will have to go look at it in person.

Well since they all copy off one another, I wouldn't be surprised if that Columbus is a duplicate of the new Crusader 380MBH or the Sanibel 3800, (copied off Solitude and Bay Hill, minus the sliding glass door).

On that model, the curb side slide still gives you enough room to park a large motorcycle underneath turning it in to a carport One of the few floor plans with two awnings. The slide awning is mounted to the slide, not the coach.

I love the opposing slides because it opens up the interior and gives so much more living space.

I just hope that they do even more bed slides. That was one of the main things holding me back from getting a rockwood/flagstaff. 👍🏼

Also check out the Rockwood Windjammer 3029W. Almost identical.

I finally got around to looking at the 8299bs in person Saturday at the great outdoors. Like it overall. However, they replaced the large baggage door that I'm used to on the street side with one like the curb side. They had to do that because of the bed slide. Have to measure my recliners to see if they may squeeze through. Otherwise really love the extra room in the bedroom and the side by side fridge. Had to hurry through as we were on our way to a party. May have to go visit it again. Did notice they used two analog thermostats. My 8289 came with a digital in the bedroom and just replaced the analog in the living room with a digital. Kept the old analog and would put it back before trading it in.

AS someone mentioned in an earlier post, check the CCC on the 8299. That bedroom slide did not come without significant sacrifices.

From all the weight sticker photos I've compared on the 'net, it appears the CCC has actually increased slightly from the 8289WS. We've ordered the 8299BS's sister the Flagstaff 8529IKBS. Supposed to be delivered to the dealer this week.
