New 2509S owner

I just picked mine up yesterday. Plan on camping this weekend close by to get organized.

I shopped for two years driving my family crazy. Once this model came out I knew it was the one for us! I really appreciate all the advice in this forum. It has helped tremendously.

We bought one a few weeks ago at an RV show in NJ. Pick up set for Easter and cannot wait. We were fairly certain we were going to buy the roo 233 but when we saw this model the choice was clear. Had the dealer install the rear camera as an add on. Seemed like a great safety feature for highway lane changes. Coming from a pop up so was a little nervous about visibility. Hopefully it's useful and not overkill

Smile Just picked ours up too

Sitting in the driveway now and taking it to the storage facility tomorrow I hope. First trip is already booked for Easter long weekend.
Plan on using sites with full service hookups to start off, but I am curious if anyone who also owns this trailer has tried hooking up any generators to this trailer and has tested out the appliances.

Dealer service guys said we'd need minimum 3000W Generator.
Our 2509S has Package D and has a Coleman 13,500 BTU AC Unit.

We can't realistically haul a large 200+ lbs generator so I have been looking at the Inverter Generators due to their smaller size.

Have seen some folks run a 13,500 AC unit with a 2000W/2400W Inverter Generator, but somehow I don't think we'll have the same success and will need some more juice to fire up the AC. Have seen contradictory information online regarding that however.

Curious if anyone else has experience with Inverter Generators and has any advice and/or real world wisdom to offer.

Am already painfully aware that the Honda & Yamaha Generators are the best if you can afford them. I am really trying to figure out what the absolute smallest size I can get away with, but obviously want something that will last as well.

Our family is so excited to own this trailer and can't wait to hit the road this spring/summer.

A 2000w generator and 13,500 BTU ac can work, but ac needs a soft start. Otherwise, a 3k is good. My dad's Yamaha 2400 is enough, even...

My Eu2000 would start and run the AC unit in my 1809S no problem. It'll run the 15K in my fifth wheel if I set the fan on low speed, but its wide open doing it.

Hello, do you think one MaxAir fan in the bathroom is enough? Do you think you would need a second MaxAir fan in the main area?

In my experience it would be enough. By turning it on and opening a window or the other vent over the bed, it would move air through the camper. This is what i am going to do in my 2509s.

In my previous 1809, that is what i did and it worked great.

There is a thread that talks about putting in a fan (in the front vent) and getting power from a light or something.

If you haven't bought it yet, I'd have the fan put in. I was going to when I ordered my 2503S, but somehow it slipped my mind when we were asking for options.

Get one that reverses; then it will be like a ceiling fan over the bed. Should reduce the number of times you'd need to run the noisy AC at night.

I'll probably be adding one this year.

Hi All,

We are looking at this model along with the 2306, obviously we prefer this one but a little concerned about our TV.

I have a 2016 Colorodo 4wd Crew cab rated at 7000 lbs. By my calculations, I should close to 1000 lbs available for tongue weight after additional passengers and cargo.

In everyone's opinion, should I be keeping my focus on the 2306 or can my imagination drift towards the 2509s?

Thanks

What's the payload capacity of your truck?

According to my stickers I have 1376lbs available , which from what I understand already includes a driver. My extras would be:

Wife, 4yo, 2 year old and incidental cargo that would need to be in the truck and not camper as well as hitch setup.

Thanks

Personally, I don't pay attention to the payload number on the sticker of my truck. Rather, I look at it's GVWR, the rear axle rating and the rating on the hitch.

Go to a CAT scale and weigh your truck (individual axle weights) with a full tank of fuel and everyone on board, then assume an extra 75# for the WDH plus whatever load you think you'll be carrying.

Assume the tongue weight of the trailer will be 12% of it's GVWR.

With this info, you'll have a good estimation of how close you'll be to your truck's ratings.

Looking to purchase 2509S?

We came across this model in a brochure after looking at the Roo hybrid. I'm very interested in this model with the intention to purchase something different next spring.
My question for those of you who have been in this model --- the bunks ... are these appropriate for growing kids? I have an 11 year old boy and 8 year old girl and my concern is head room. I can't find anything that indicates what kind of head room in this model. It appears to be kind of short in the bunk area, but wasn't sure if it was just the pictures we have seen.
Our plan is to have the next camper be suitable for the rest of the years that the kids will camp with us.
Thoughts?

I don't own the 2509S but we had considered a bunk model when we were ready to move on from our Roo hybrid. Our 3 sons were about 14, 16 and 19 when we started looking and we thought the Rockwood 2702WS might work for us at that time. When we actually found one to inspect, we felt that the bunk beds were going to be too short in a hurry. The bunks are about 74" long according to the brochure (2" longer than the 2509S) but not all the way across because of an angle cut at the one end where you get in. So we opted to go with a floorplan that has a U-shaped dinette and pull out sofa which gives us 2 queen size beds when they're down. We knew that the days of them camping with us regularly where winding down so that was the best fit for us.

The bunks are great for younger children but when they hit their teens, it won't be long before they outgrow them.

My kids are close in age and have complained once that they cannot sit up straight. Other than that one time I haven't heard a peep. They have twice the room I had in the Navy so I haven't really given it much thought. Not sure you are going to find a mini lite with loads of headroom in the bunks. Now if your looking for headroom in the bunk area I've seen one camper that has it. A Dutchman Aero Lite with power lifts on the bunks. Sweet camper, but she's a lot more $$.
