Rockwood Mini Lite Bathroom Door

If you have one of these you probably know they put the doors on (in my opinion) backward. I hated having it slam into the fridge and could not leave it open. Here is my solution. From the factory, the bathroom door opens to the left and hits the fridge when open. Super inconvenient. I flipped mine completely over and drilled a new hole for the catch where the existing one was in the other door jamb. If you move both jams that is the only thing you need to do to modify the setup. Just screw everything back into place. There is a smaller gap at the top this way too. Now I can leave it open all the time. I installed a magnet catch at an angle where it meets the bunk beds. I also took out the mattresses for the bunk beds that I don't use and store totes there.

I noticed that there was no stopper from the factory, and the door handle did some damage to the new SS door. New one on order.

I put in a $2.50 stopper down by the electrical panel to stop that from happening again. I'm not concerned to keep the door open.

Magnets Yo!!

Bathroom Door

I like leaving mine open since I am the only one in there. It also regulates the temperature in there more efficiently. I keep my laundry bag, pajamas etc on the back side of the door which is hidden and I put up a towel rack on the other side. It works for me and no more dinged up refer door.

This is something I have seen change over the model years and I think the new models hinge the door on the other side already.

Interesting that the measurements all worked out to just flip the door over. I would not have expected that.

I have the Micro Lite 23fb 2016 model and our bathroom door opens into the bathroom, not into the kitchen area.

Bathroom Door

I would not like that at all. Those are small enough as it is! As it was on mine, I had to turn everything 180 including the plastic door jambs. I also had to drill a new hole for the closing bolt to go into. The whole project took less than an hour.
