You just need a slightly larger pillow. We use two pieces of foam covered with fabric. Fills the top of the bed when sleeping (effectively adds ~6" to the bed length) and fits behind the couch when the bed is up. Works very well for us. No "storage" needed.

We will be at the FROG rally in Goshen and I am looking forward to seeing all the mods that my fellow FROGS have created (and I can plagerize), as well as sharing what I've come up with.
Denny B, Do you have a photo of the shoe rack?

Shoe rack

For some reason, I cannot download photos from my iPad?
We will be at the Goshen Rally. Hopefully we will be able to connect.

Okay so I'm about to purchase a 2020 2509s. My first mod will be to replace the analog thermostat.

I've read in this thread that both of these are plug and play?

Narrow Coleman

Wide Coleman

I'm looking for straight up plug and play to run my AC and my furnace (as I understand it, the AC unit is not a heat pump). If its backlit that's great, if it's not I'll survive. Are these both legitimate 100% compatible and plug/play?

I replaced my thermostat in my 2104S. I used the black version of the second one you linked to. It was a straight swap, mounting holes and all. It is not backlit, which is a little bit of a bummer, but it works much better than the analog one.

This one?

Black Wide Digital T-Stat

This one has a harness pictured on the back - did your thermostat have a harness in the wall?

That's the one. The connectors weren't needed in my case. I had to cut those off, and wire nut the connections to the trailer wiring like the original was set up. I think it's prewired with the connectors for some other specific camper, which I don't have.

Another 2104S here. I used the narrow one from Airxcel. It was very easy to install and is backlit when you touch a button. You have to scroll through the settings and stop on the one you want, but it's easy to figure out.
The old thermostat is hardwired in so there is no plug and play, but it's a simple matter of snipping and stripping the wires then follow the color coding. The only not so good thing is that the original mount holes aren't covered, I plan to cut some little wallpaper patches from inside a closet to glue those holes.
I used high strength adhesive Velcro to mount the 'stat for now, seems to be hold so I might just leave it. Before you make your choice check out the size of the hole the wires come through, I was just barely able to cover the hole on my installation.
Good luck!

The storage under the jackknife couch is hard to get to and a lot of space to waste. So I made to large drawers that fit under the top. They are 24” wide by 28” long by 10” tall. I bought 100 lb. drawer guides with a soft lock feature for RVs. I attached the drawers slides to right angle aluminum channel and mounted them to the steel frame of the sofa. Took the upholstery off the lower front, cut the board in half, and reupholstered the 2 halves. Then mounted them to the front of the drawers.

Gee, thanks a lot man! Now I have ANOTHER project to add to the list.
Very nice work, probably something FR might want to consider in upcoming models.

Newer models have kick-out recliner-type leg rests.

So I'm thinking that the first time you did this it took a little while, but now that's it's done you're like an old pro??

Sooooooooo, I'm thinking a trip to Michigan with my 21DS wouldn't take me too long??

Seriously that's a really coo idea, and I may just have to look into giving that a go.

For now we have 4 plastic containers that just beneath the couch, but I'm thinking that idea is much better and neater??

Geobound,

If your interested in doing something like this I can take more pictures of how I mounted the drawer slides to the couch. It wasn't all that hard to do once I figured out how to do it. The boxes are made out of 1/2"Baltic Birch plywood, glued and finish nailed together. I can also give you a link to the drawer slides. Let me know
