Rockwood Signature 5th Wheel Caps

Anyone else having issues with the appearance of their units front cap looking pushed in or "dented" across the top above the Rockwood logo? After just 3 short trips our 8289WS has developed a pushed in look. I am presently working with my dealer to have this issue resolved.

Hello what year is yours?
Mine is 13 and it was OK, some 14's had issues. They put foam in behind to support the cap.

I recall there are other threads that discuss this issue in detail. Do a search on rockwood caps dents and you should find some rather long relevant discussions.
As I recall these issues appeared in hotter summer climates like Texas with temperatures exceeding 95 degrees. Our cap is slightly dented as well.... Not sure it looks bad enough to worry about it . The fix , as B and B indicated , involves jamming foam in behind the cap which to me is pretty hokey!

Yup...this was discussed to great extent in the past. Fix requires taking the front off and stuffing the void with styrofoam. Our 2014 has the so called dents and we live on the Canadian Prairies, so no need to go the Southern heat for it to happen. So far we have decided that we would rather live with it then have the front torn apart and hope it`s re-sealed properly. Besides warranty is over so they would probably tell us to fly a kite. Plus I didn`t buy from the local dealer so that complicates matters.

There is a video on this forum that goes thru the steps on how to fix this. I had the same problem, a huge dent that really hack me off to happen to a new RV. The local dealer said to drop it in the back, said he had an 8 week backlog, didn't buy from him. No thank you, I bought this to use not leave on some dealers lot for who knows how long. I watched the video a few times and fixed it myself. Bought a sheet of 1/2" styrofoam, some dicor and went to work. Used most of the styrofoam, still looks good after a year. I did the work in October 2014 and have since put on about 2500 miles, some of those miles were in 100ļ + heat. Took me a good day to do the repair start to finish. Bought some stainless screws and probably doubled the amount of screws that were in the cap covering it all with the dicor. So far no leaks and the cap looks great.

If anybody knows where to find the video that Joe is referring to, it would be appreciated if you could post it. I have searched but no luck finding it.

Search 8289 front cap dents. Go to post #37, the video is there
