Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite 8299BS tires.
New trailer should be coming in 6 wks. I'm wanting to change out the China Bombs and upgrade to 16" rims / tires..... I can't find out the axle rating for this trailer (lbs.). I'm hoping there is enough clearance room for 16" rims / Tires. Hopefully someone has already upgrade and help me out here.....Going to go with LT tires......Thanks..Dave....Please no Fire storm here..

2010 8280, in my signature, has 16" tires and rims with about 2" of clearance between them, and they're E rated......these axles are 4000lb.

Thanks Bob.....Did you upgrade to 16" rims/tires, or were they already on there?... My 04 Cougar has 5 lug 15" rims... I take it these are 6 lug rims....I've worked on and ran heavy equipment all my life, and have had good luck with LT tires on trailers pulling equipment.....Thanks Dave....

In my opinion you are making the right move, i.e., upgrading tires/rims. We blew two passenger side China bombs on our new Heritage Glen fiver in our first season (2013), less than 1K miles on them. I didn't have a clue they were gone and dragged it for miles, until a good samaritan flagged me down. Tore up the curb side trailer slide. FR warrantied the repair. Very nice. I could not figure out 16" upgrades (clearance/wheels) for my HG, for lack of information, so I settled for a tire upgrade from D to E tires that added a few hundred pounds capacity to each tire location. Tire pressure went to 85 from 65 psi which makes me a little uneasy with the aluminum rims, so I run around 75 psi and keep it at 65mph. I too, like you, am interested to hear what has worked for other folks. This year we will add a TPMS.
