Rockwood Ultra Lite 8265 WS

I have a 2011 8265 WS on order and was hoping to connect with someone who has one to ask a few questions of you. Thanks, Larry.

Hi and welcome Larry.
I know your question was asked a while back but maybe I can help.
I have a 2011 8285WS. What did you want to know?

Hi John and Lou. Happy New Year to both of you. One question for you Lou is the height of your fifth wheel. I hope to get into my shed which has a clear opening of 11'-11" for height. Did you ever measure the height of your fifth wheel? I will be picking up our unit on the 7th. Laqrry.

I have (the best I could at the time as I was alone on the roof and my wife was holding a ruler against the side of the camper). The highest point on the camper is the leading edge of my Coleman Mach II air conditioner when hooked up to the truck (the only way to measure it).

I put a long 2x4 across the leading edge of the AC and crawled to the edge and dropped the 25 foot tape ruler to the ground. My wife read the distance while I balanced the 2x4 and held the "dumb" end. Since I was not happy with the 11' 9.5" she called up; I use 12 foot as my maximum clearance. I have squeaked under a refueling canopy that was marked 12 feet without breaking the fluorescent light tubes but it was VERY close. I was sweating bullets since I could not see the light fixtures or the airconditioner; nor could I verify the actual height of his canopy.

Mine is a little higher on my Rockwood. FR says 12' 3". I almost forgot one day pulling into a gas station with a overhand with a security camera hanging down.
You should make it in your 11' 11" shed. If not just lower the tire pressure.

I talked to my dealer about it today so he measured for me. He told me that it is under 11'-10" and I have 11'-11" of clearance. Close but should work. My grandson will be on a ladder watching so we will proceed cautiously and see. Thanks for the tip on the tires as well. If it is a problem they are able to put a low profile A/C unit on which would give 3" additional clearance for $765.00 additional which is a solution. Thanks for your imput. Larry.

Hmmm. I should give my wife more credit. Looks like she is just fine with the "smart" end of the ruler.
