Rockwood ultra lite with champagne exterior

I am currently looking at buying a 2019 Rockwood 2608 BS. The dealer has one in stock with the champagne exterior. Does anyone have any experience with this color in a hot sunny climate? I like the color but, I am wondering if White would be a better choice for living in Florida and traveling out west.

Naturally, the white one will be more reflective, but the champagne colored one is the upgraded Diamond Package.

X2.

With that said our 2016 is the Diamond package with the champagne color and I see no issues that would make us want white.

Not anymore. For the 2019 MY, champagne is standard and white is optional. Both colors include a new two-tone front cap. The white also includes a gray beltline in gel coat and it has different graphics than the standard champagne color. This was a mid-year change so it doesn't apply to coaches built before July or August. Not sure of the exact cutoff.

I read a thread a few months ago claiming the darker exterior made it harder to cool off. two a/c's or an upgraded larger a/c might be a must.

We are on our 2nd Rockwood...first one was the dark color, and it was an issue for Rockwood on the front cap as they had many warping issues and warranty claims over it. Our 2016 went to a lighter color and it is better, and now the color is lighter yet...we really liked the darker color but it definitely absorbed more heat.

We're in Texas and have had multiple trailers over the years. we have noticed slight differences in the white vs darker trailers but the difference to us was not a deal breaker. Our 2608BSD has the ability to add 2nd AC if the heat becomes an issue.

DW likes the champagne color, so the decision was a no-brainer!

How do you like the unit? Have you had any issues? Would you recommend to others?

We have had no issues and like the new model just great.
If this layout was what they were looking for; I would not hesitate to tell them to consider it.

Had no color choice on our 2019 2511s. I like the champagne. Though darker than our previous off white , not enough to matter to the touch in my opinion.

2019 TT brochure shows champagne standard and white optional for Roo, Mini-Lites, Ultra Lites, and Signatures.

We bought an 8299BS last October. We ordered it, with the options we wanted (pretty much all of them) and it came to the dealer's in November. I can confirm that by that point in 2018, a white trailer was the option and champagne was standard. We did pay the extra for the white, and it looks pretty good. It will also go with the white F350 that we're picking up in a few weeks.

So for those of you who have it... what is/was a Diamond package? That never came up when we bought ours.

Champagne color

We have the champagne color on our 2018 8311WS Signature Ultra Lite and we love it.
It was an option for 2018 and I can assure you that the color has not been an issue with inside temperature. The camper is really well insulated and stays cooler that our previous white Fuzion camper.
Enjoy it!

The only thing I'd share with you is that all those black covers on the roof absorb heat. With the maxxair II covers on the vents, you may want to have the vent pillows in place to block the heat radiating down inside in the warmer temps of summer. If yours doesn't have the vent covers, I'd recommend the white ones. I haven't had any issues with the body color

You might want to check the build date on the trailer. I have info from a source at Rockwood saying all Rockwood towables built after Dec 18 will be Azdel. They are being quiet about this allowing dealers to clear inventory

Search "Azdel" on the forum. There are statements that this was only temporary and only on the back wall due to a luan shortage and then switched back to all luan. I don't know what to believe.

It would make sense though to only do the back wall as a field test on a short run of trailers. If things went bad this would be a fairly easy fix. Maybe there wasn't really a shortage. Hmmmmmm.

I got the info from 2 sources. 1st was from the video series done by Josh Winters from Haylett RV. Once we watched that, we contacted a guy we met who works for Rockwood and he confirmed what Josh reported.
I find it hard to believe it's temporary with the reason being a luan shortage. Are all the coach builders using Adzel on a temp basis, or is only Rockwood experiencing the shortage?

Josh later retracted his statements with a follow-up video.

I'm one of the people that are happy that they're doing a white exterior. The champaign wasn't bad, but I think the white looks really good on the mini-lites. Options are good!

We have a white exterior Rockwood and friends of ours have champagne exterior Flagstaff and no matter what others will say it makes a difference on the interior temperature.
