roof protectoin/prevenative maintenance

we bougt our ultra v about four months ago now and have used it several times . i noticed last weekend that the top of the awning had a lot of mold on it so i decided i woud get on the roof and clean the awning needless to say i saw how dirty the roof was so i washed it as well and got all of the mold off. seems like that mold built up pretty fast and i have never put the awning away wet even if it is raining when i get home we wash it and let it dry. the roof i was a bit shocked by since it has a nice curve to it i didn't really think about it holding any moisture. so my question is there anything i can do to prevent any of this and is there coatings/wax i can put on the roof that will protect it as well?

If you have a rubber roof you should wash the roof a minimum of twice a year. I use an RV roof cleaner and protector product either made by Camco or Dicor for the roof. To name two products on the market. They also make products that clean and protects the awning. You can buy these products almost anywhere such as Walmart, auto parts stores and camping dealers plus the Dreaded Camping World.
