We use our RV awning mat (weaved) at the beach all the time. If the sand is dry it falls right out but if the sand is damp it does stick and we have enough sand to start a beach the next time we unfold it. No good answer but make sure it is dry when you fold / roll it up. But that is not always possible.

I'm pretty OCD about keeping the campsite neat and tidy... I have one of the aforementioned Wal-Mart Camco mats, which we like. I take my leaf blower, which is MUCH easier to use to clean the mat than sweeping it. (I only use it in the evenings when I know it won't disturb someone sleeping)
