I just realized I need to correct my post #32 on the ratio of bleach to water. It should be 1/4 to 1/2 cup per 15 gallons of water, not per gallon.

x2,3,4 on sanitizing the tank. I do it at the beginning of every season, very easy to do, even for a newbie. I don't use liquid bleach but use chlorinating concentrate (a pool chemical). Its a little more expensive initially but a small jar of it will last you a long time. One spoonfull of it will sanitize the entire tank. I don't need to flush the system as much because its just like drinking chlorinated water(although we don't use our tank for drinking water you will end up getting some of the water into you - showers, brushing teeth). Perhaps if you're pressed for time you could look into this method. Good Luck - Cincia
