Woke up to this on Monday morning. Guess we shouldn't have dragged our feet on winterizing. It's done now!! So my wishful thinking that winter would stay away for another month or so is all shot to h#**!

I winterized already but I'm going out one more time for a 3 day weekend to Bear Head Lake State Park, just west of Ely in northern Minnesota. It's supposed to be fairly mild (mid-40s during the day) so I am hoping to avoid that white stuff. A cold front is moving in Sunday but I should be on my way home by then. I will have electricity so the electric blanket will get some use. Not going to be many (any) weekends this warm for awhile.

For our winter here in Virginia, we get cold snaps where the temps will dip into the twenties at night for a couple of days at a stretch. That's going on now. Then it warms up again (50s over 30s)so our camping season can be year 'round. We'll have highs in the 60s this weekend.
Sounds good until you realize this means winterizing between trips. Last winter I did the process about 4 times; however, I'll take that over parking the TT in a snow bank for months at a time.

Years ago when I was single I camped all through the winter. Not wanting to have to winterize after each trip this is what I did. I carried a six gallon container of water with me and when I needed to flush the toilet I just poured some in the bowl and flushed. When you are out in the middle of nowhere and it's the wee hours of the morning and the temperature is in the teens and there is no sign or sound of civilization anywhere, you feel like the only person left on the planet.

I've changed how I do things because of our weather here. I used to drain and blow everything every trip and winterize about this time of year. We have so much hot / cold / hot / cold that I'd end up winterizing two to four times a year between trips ( it'll freeze lightly for a few days in November then warm up...repeat until around February). I normally have it out every 1.5 months during the year. Now, I don't even drain the thing between trips unless it's getting put up for several months. I'll just blow the lines out when the lows hit around 40 and won't winterize until it's going to be in the low 30's for several nights in a row. That makes it about twice a year.

21 here last night and still 30 at 9am....thank goodness for the polar package.....trailer got down to 48 for its lowest temp....ran electric heater on low and a couple of times at night ran trailer furnace.....to flow heat into basement...

No tale of woe.....as we do usually get in mid 40s or higher during the day......if doesn't get warm during day would winterize for sure or head to Fla... or S tx....
Which hopefully we will be doing soon LOL.....

We live in south Texas! Got down to 30 at our house this morning, but that's unusual. Tonight is only supposed to be a low of 54.

We are in North Carolina and it got down to 24 last night. I just returned Monday from camping in South Carolina and the first thing that I did after setting up the trailer was to winterize it. I am planning at least one more trip this year but it is easier to unwinterize it than it is to replace pipes.

We're un upstate South Carolina. We're making a two week trip in our Sunseeker starting next Monday. I have not winterized the coach. The forecast for Wednesday morning was for 27 or 28. I was up at 5 AM and it was 29 at home. I went to check on the motorhome, which is in storage about 7 miles away. It's under roof with walls on three sides, so it was out of the 10-20 mph wind. To my surprise it was 21 in the storage yard. Nothing was frozen but I ran the gas furnace and water heater for about half an hour anyway. I wanted to warm it up because it would be several hours before it got above freezing. It didn't get out of the 40's yesterday. This morning was forecast for 30. It was 30 at home at 5 am but 23 at the storage yard. I checked the water temperatures. The fresh water tank was 40 and the hot water was 60, so it was still okay, but I ran the furnace and water heater again anyway. Gas is too cheap to risk split water pies or fittings.

I got in one more weekend of camping in northern Minnesota. As you can see, I didn't avoid the snow. But the temps were mild.
