Saying Hello and questions for 2109S owners

Hi folks, just joined the group and wanted to say hello.

We just ordered a new ML 2109s and of course are excited about the new rig. We're going to be selling our Jayco 17z.

It's just the two of us so we don't need big. The 17z was actually fine size wise, but due to health issues, I really needed a regular bed without canvas that I don't have to climb into.

We love the floor plan of the 2109s and the new ones all have the rounded glass door shower which should be nice!!

Some quick questions that I can't remember when we looked at one and I cant tell from online pictures.

Is there a heat and air duct in the bathroom?

I take it that the heat comes out of the same ceiling vents as the air?

Thanks and I'm looking forward to this forum. I enjoy doing mods so this place should be helpful.

Had the Flagstaff twin. No vents in bathroom. A/C vent just outside door in ceiling can be aimed into the bathroom. Heat vents are at floor level, one by the entrance door & one at the end of the kitchen cabinets near the bed as best I remember.

heat comes out of vents near the floor, not the AC ducts in the ceiling. I am not at home to look in the trailer, but I don't think their are heating or AC vents in the bathroom. There is a fantastic fan in the bathroom and the door is cut to allow airflow over and under the door

See pic. Furnace is next to stove, heat comes out the black vent to the left, and (I assume) another vent over by the door. They don't run ducts under the floor on these TT's, so I know it doesn't vent in the bathroom.

Prolly only a couple of heat vents (floor level). AC vents from ceiling. My ML 25KS has a heat vent in the bathroom

There are no heater vents in the bathroom & the AC vents in the ceiling are just for the AC. Bear in mind that my 2109S is a few years older than yours which has lots of nifty upgrades. I don't even want to look at a new one, might decide I have to buy it.

It is the perfect size for 2 who do not like to park inside half of the day. Take it to lots of

That's a little surprising about only one or two heat vents. The brochure lists the 2109s as having ducted heat. Not floor ducted though. They some models as floor ducted and some as ducted heat and the 2109s is listed as ducted.

It's gonna be a long 6-8 weeks waiting, we're very excited. Now I just have to get selling the Jayco hybrid!

Don't worry about the heating & cooling; it will do just fine. I know mine did. I think you will be well pleased.

Our 2015 only has 2 heat outlets. One each side of the stove/sink cabinet if I remember right. Guess I can't see why it would be needed in the bath. We seldom use the LP heat except to warm the area quickly. A small electric space heater does the job with less noise and saves gas.

Took delivery of my 2016 Rockwood 2109S in late November.
Wife & I love it. Perfect size for the two of us and our dog.
Heat is more than adequate, even on coldest nights. Vents located fore and aft of range and sink,near floor.

We have a 2013 2109s. We have camped several nights below freezing; in fact, I had to put an electric heater under the trailer to keep the water line from freezing. The trailer heater inside worked great with just two ducts. Just leave the bathroom door ajar when not in use.

How cold did it get? Did the water lines underneath actually freeze or were you just being cautious?

We're getting so anxious! This Friday will be 6 weeks since the order went in. RVW gave a 7 week estimate and when I called the factory direct at the time, they said 6-10 weeks. Though they also said they were running closer to 6 weeks on them.

GFI reset.

I bought a short 30A male to 15A female pigtail along with a 3-light circuit analyzer for use in checking polarity etc. before connecting to a campground's power. Just to see how it worked I plugged it in to the outside power tap on the RV. The lights lit properly. Well, they did for a short time. When pulling it from the socket I managed to depress the small button on the analyzer that tests for ground faults. It works. Then I had to hunt for the reset button to get things up and running again. It's on the bathroom vanity cabinet. Hopefully, that bit of information will save someone else from spending several minutes searching on their 2109-S

The "trunk line" in the ceiling runs clear to the vent over the toilet. Remove the vent just before the bathroom door and look rearward, you will see some foam in there. Remove and use a wire hanger to verify how far it goes. Then cut in a new one inside bathroom and re-foam the trunk between there and the vent.

Vents in the ceiling for air conditioning, but not in the bath. The ceiling fan in there works, but only when the bath light is on. Furnace vents are floor level on both sides of the kitchen cabinets.

This forum is really great and I have learned much so far!

We picked up our 2017 2109s on June 1st at RV One in Albany. Did a few days of camping with full utilities to shake it down a bit at Lake George NY and then headed back to Maine. I have the 1000/10,000 Equalizer hitch and it pulled like a dream behind my V8 4Runner except the gas mileage was really horrible....

The only problem so far is that the TV antenna was "caulked" to the roof and wouldn't turn. It took a bit of undoing to get that squared away and then I realized that the plastic nut that holds it to the roof wasn't connected. A 2" 15/16th socket fixed that and it is working fine now.
Got home and started into some mods that I had planned.

The big one was a solar project as we mostly camp at State, National and Provincial parks with few or no hook-ups. I have a portable 100 W panel and I bought two Trojan 6Volt T105's and mounted them on the tongue in plastic cases which I had to modify (cut the handles off and the tabs on the cover where they meet-which I read about in this forum!). I was bummed that the Torklift box I bought from eTrailer didn't fit (https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories.../TLA7712R.html) but they were great about taking the return.
In terms of the solar hookup, I cut the wires between the Zamp plug and the leads going to the battery and made a harness to my solar controller (Renogy Adventurer) which I mounted by the door just below the FR monitoring panel. It took a bit of doing to run the wires and I had to drill a hole in the floor from the shallow pantry below the radio into an existing raceway and then snake my wires through the hollow cabinet floors to where I mounted things. That meant taking the IRV34 out, the hood down and the microwave out but it is finished and working well. (While the microwave is out, it is a simple install for a paper towel rack as you can add a 1/4" piece of playwood and through bolt it above the sink).

I am hoping to run the reefer and some lights and a fan (and maybe the TV for the news) and with the solar panel try to go 10 days. I fired up the refrigerator on propane to see how things will recharge yesterday and it is cloudy here today so this will be a good test.

I also connected a second light to the interior light switch so that when you come in when it is dark, it lights up a bit better than with just the one light over the sink. I also bought a GE LED wireless switch/2 fixture set up (GE Under Cabinet Light Fixture, 12" - Walmart.com) which I will use to try to save the batteries. I disassembed the switch and sprayed it brown to match the outlet in the cabinet by the door and mounted one light bar over the sofa in the slide out and the other under the cabinet to the left of the hood.

Today I am installing two LED reading lights in the cabinets on either side of the bed as the overhead light is terrible and impossible to read by. I also want to swap out the 24" TV with a 19" Insignia that I have that will run on 12V. (I bought the adapter on Amazon). I'll report out on both when I have them completed if I have time as we are leaving in a few days......
I'll try to post some pics of the solar set up later.

We ordered a 2017 2109s 4 weeks ago and the wait is driving me crazy.
The UPS guy must be going crazy also. with all the Amazon deliveries for trailer stuff. Lol

I'm still on the fence on going with Zamp 200W solar or Yamaha generators. I want to dry camp more than hook up.
