Screen Room for my 2503S: Question

I've been researching screen rooms on the web and in this forum. I'm having a difficult time trying to find one that I think will work, and last. Many of the forums I've read say to stear clear of the "Carefree" brand, but they seem to be the biggest seller of this product. My wife and I both think that we'd love to have one for those place where flys and mosquitos abound as she is literally bait for them.
What brand are you using or recommend?

Saw your complaint about no responses on the other thread. I read this thread when you first posted it. I have a 2503S, so it peaked my interest, BUT:

1. I don't have a screen room and
2. I don't anticipate using a screen room

So I did not respond. Your thread has been viewed 89 times as of my writing this, so folks are looking. But as mentioned in the other thread, I suspect most folks looking at the thread felt the same as I did - that we had nothing to offer.

I don't see a lot of screen rooms in campgrounds; I'd say less than 5%.

I love the idea of screen rooms, but the price is usually quite high. I'd rather just spend less than half the cost on a standalone screen tent (which we already have) than get one of these.

What are your reasons for wanting it as opposed to a separate screen tent if you don't mind me asking?

Citronella candles/torches are quite cheap and effective.

You could always go to a fabric shop and pick up mozzie netting and attach it to your awning with some spring clamps or velcro.

We use a oscillating fan. It is so handy in many ways. It will keep flying insects away. Blow campfire smoke away, stoke up a slow burning campfire. Provide cooling when it hot and humid. Provides white noise while sleeping in loud campsites/parking lots. Did I mention keeps bugs away?

Well, it's kind of a foldable trailer....



Had it for my '08 Roo 23SS. LOVED IT! But only used it if we were going to camp 5 nights or more. Believe I got it from PPL RV Parts & Accessories. You'll notice the awning is the manual type. It went with the Roo when we sold it. Haven't replaced it... yet.

Don't have a screen room, but we have 2 end sunscreens and a front screen. Since these pictures were taken, we now have a front sunscreen that touches the ground.

we have both a screen tent and screen room.
the screen room does not keep out all bugs, the screen tent is much better. we love the screen room, it seems to open up more space.
we like the privacy when we close it up. can be a real issue if camping with wind though.

screen rooms can be heavy.

I looked into these, too, but decided on a stand-alone, octogan-shaped version, I think from Coleman. We really like it but it doesn't keep all the bugs out.

We are on our third year with our carefree screen room and couldnt be happier.
Its made for the electric awning and takes about 20 minute to install. We ordered the wrong size and when we needed panels to add two feet to the room and skirting carefree sent everything we needed for free including the shipping to Canada. The auto dump works fine with the room attached and with the storm flaps down it makes a nice cozzy place to sit.

I don't have a picture of it, but before we sold the Roo, I started using just the front panel of the screen room. It came in handy when it rained and also to keep the sun from shining on the area under the awning late in the day. The entrance door of the Roo was close to the end of the awning, and with the front panel in place, it kept the rain off the steps and the door. Drop the storm panels and the sun would be held at bay from beating in the area under the awning.
So, there are more uses than just as a screen room.

Highly recommend a product call "Thermacell". I don't leave home with out it. It works!!!! Fishing, hunting, camping or just sitting on the patio at home. I have been using them for many years. Here is a link https://www.thermacell.com/

Thermacel also makes a lantern. When the mosquitos are bad down here in Louisiana (which is usually 51/52 weeks a year) we use both the individual Thermacel units (place them under our lawn chairs) and the lantern.

We're new RVers' and saw your post about screen rooms, not to dissuade you as we have an R-Pod and love our screen room as we have a 120 lb Chocolate lab and need the extra room BUT I have a home recipe I found on Pintrest this year that I tried on our deck at home that actually worked. Whether it was because it was such a dry year or not ,I don't know, I just found that I could actually sit out and not get eaten alive. I also took it camping and sprayed the common areas between our family sites and it worked there also. I thought I would pass it along.
MOSQUITO REPELLENT: WORKS FOR UP TO 80 DAYS!
1 LARGE BOTTLE MINT FLAVORED MOUTHWASH (18 OZ.)
3 CUPS EPSOM SALTS
