Secure Dining Room Chairs - Better Solution?

It is a PITA to go under the table to secure the legs of the chairs with the nylon strap for traveling. I got a longer strap so it is easier to reach around all 4 legs but I still have to crawl underneath the table. Has anyone come up with a better solution? I'm thinking of securing them at the top and using foam to cushion them from hitting each other.

My DW replaced the straps with a bungee cord. Wraps towel between the legs. It read where some replaced the chairs with folding chairs at Costco or some warehouse store and just fold them and lay them down when traveling.
