Shipping Costs from Forest River

I'm trying to get a new ladder for my 2703ws. The dealer says the ladder is only $105 but there is a shipping fee of $100 plus some other charges which amount to $250. Anyone have similar experience?

Thanks,

Cost is probably due to the size of the package/carton.
Go to Amazon. Same ladders run from the $80's to $110 or so, many with free shipping, and if you have Amazon Prime, it is free shipping.

The fee is for a "large bulky item" right?

That is not FR it is the shipping Co.

My dealer does that to save charging for shipping, only thing is you might have to wait longer.

It's not FR or your dealer.
Shipping companies charge a lot for 'oversized' packages.

wyoman, FR does not make their own ladders, don't know why you have to get theirs.
Check Stromburg Carlson on Amazon. They have an rv ladder for a bit over $90.00, with free shipping if you have Amazon Prime, and you'll have it in two days.
And, Stromburg Carlson is really good stuff.

I checked Amazon and they don't have a Stromburg Carlson ladder that matches the one I have. I need to get the exact match (color, etc.) so I don't have to drill new holes. If I get the one for my trailer, I'll be able to use the existing mounts. I guess I'm stuck with shipping charges but I will do as clutchd suggested, see if they've got a trailer coming from FR.

Thanks,

Also check eTrailer.com. I got a Strohmberg ladder from them for the fold down bunk in my FR3.

Heard the same thing for a piece of trim that came in 14ft lengths. $200 for a $55 part of which I only needed 4ft. Had them cut it down to UPS max length. Tell them to cut a few chunks off your ladder.
