I went with the extra year, can't beat the price. Great response on this!

I generally decline any extended warranty. As some have said, often the component manufacturers offers warranty that exceeds the trailer's one year period. However, $150 for a second year warranty from FR sound like good risk management.

If a 5 year warranty appeals to you, I would negotiate with the dealer on $1,700 and then say I'll make annual payments, not a lump sum. They may have trouble with this, but, let let them say no.

I keep going back and forth on the 5 year warranty RVWholesalers is pushing. They say if you don't use it after the 5 years you get your money back. I've asked for a copy of the terms and conditions so I can check them out but haven't got it yet.

Never heard about "money back if insurance was not used".

Insurance math do not work like that. Curious what the dealer will provide in writing!

The company I have ( RV Extended Warranty Coverage, RV Warranty Specialists - Wholesale Warranties for RV Repair ), will refund the pro rata method reflecting the days in force less seventy-five dollars administrative fee. A full refund the first sixty days of coverage.

The pro rata refund policy you got is much different from what grege was offered:
"They say if you don't use it after the 5 years you get your money back". This would mean full reimbursement!
Just curious.

Just remember, if the insurance company is no longer in business or has been taken over by another company your chances of getting any money back is probably nil. Buy Forest River's second year warranty and forget anything else.

Fully suporting what oakman stated. And no insurance company could beat FR regarding a 150$ premium for one (more) year.

I agree the $150.00 second year warranty is well worth the money, but in my case, I am past the two year ownership. So this was the best warranty option for me. I have had plenty of problems with my trailer under my first and optional ( $150.00 ) second year warranty. For the $1200.00 for seven years, It makes me feel better knowing that the major problems are covered. Like it said earlier, one replacement part for your refrigerator could cost several hundreds of dollars plus the labor. Some people will not agree with me, but that is what makes the world go round. The company I have, has been in business for 30 plus years. But that’s not to say, they can’t go belly up tomorrow, just as Forest River can by next year.
