Should we upgrade to 15,000 btu air conditioning?

We are thinking about ordering the Rockwood Ultralite 2607SS which is 29 feet long. We were wondering if we should upgrade to the 15,000 btu air condiitioning or if the 13,500 will be ok for that size trailer.

Where are you located? This may make a difference.

I have the 13500 btu, and have absolutely no problems with the cooling. Remember, these campers have a ducted system anyway, to distribute the cool air. Mine's fine and I live in Florida, and besides, on a 30 amp site, you will probably be running other things as well, and you don't want to go over the 30 amps, or it will trip the breaker! Randy

I ordered our Georgetown with a single 13.5K unit not wanting to carry the weight of a 2nd unit we would hardly use. We do most of our camping in temps below 80 degrees. Wouldn't you know it, most of our trips out have been in over 80 degree weather and the single unit can't keep up.

I guess it's better to have it and not need it then to not have it and be wishing you did. Go for the bigger unit if it is in the budget....

Our GS-280 has the 15k BTU unit and living in south Alabama it's needed during the summer. I'd definitely recommend it if you camp anywhere that it's hot and humid.

Thank you all so much for your responses. This forum is awesome. We live in Missouri and there are times that it could be around 100 degrees. We will probably go with the 15,000 just to be safe.
Thanks again.

I have a 15,000 in my Work and Play 18LT, which is an 18 foot box. Last night I went in and it was 97 degrees, camper shut up. 92 outside. Turned on AC to med. fan and 1.5 hours later was 83. Still uses a 30 amp service. You don't go to 50 amp unless you get dual AC's. I recommend it, it's not much heavier depending on brand.

I have the Rockwood 2604 w/ 15000 BTU AC and it will not keep up in 100 plus temp here in Tx. I would definately go for the 15000 over the 13500 on a 26 ft trailer. Even with the problem of having to turn it off when running the MW oven.

We just came back from a trip out west, through West Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah in our 2008 8272S. My 15K a/c had a hard time keeping up on several days; a 13.5K a/c would have been a miserable experience.
