SIRIUS Satellite Radio
We just got our new 2011 Rockwood Signature Ultra Light 8315BSS -- yippee! As we were leaving the salesman says, oh here's your SIRIUS Satellite Radio console. I was like, huh? He said it plugs into your RV. I was like, cool!
So, does anyone have this? Do I have to purchase a plan? Shouldn't I have received a free month subscription or something?
So many questions... thanks -- tory

same trailer..... same satellite radio (ours is Delphi unit for XM radio) and same subscription issue. No free trial. Google search reveals about $15.00 per month to subscribe. Not gonna do it for the relatively limited number of days per year that we spend away in the trailer !!!

It's not free! Same as the ones in your truck, they charge by either a monthly amount or by the year. I have XM Satillite in my truck and I pay over $150 Cdn per year. My wife likes listening to the 60's music station and we have found an all news station for Canadians. The one we got with our Rockwood fits into a docking station in the trailer or can be used with an ear bud as a portable radio.
Good luck with the new trailer.

Ours came with the truck. Had 6 months free then you pay. The price is not cast in concrete. We use it a lot in the truck and we do like it. We got it for $11 a month.

I have the Delphi unit for my 2501SS. I have it in my Denali too. I get the basic plan which is $9.95 a month. I use the one for the trailer at home too (it came with another docking station in addition to the one in the camper) so it makes sense for the subscription. I just plug it into my Bose stereo at home and then grab it out of the cradle and take along camping. I do have to say that the unit isn't as good as the one built into the car. Get a little feedback everynow and then.

Thanks for the quick responses! the funny part was when we were at the RV show in Timonium MD we asked the salesman what the port was for. He said, oh you plug your IPod in there. I looked at it and said, Dude I don't think so the console looks different. He was like, well that's what they told me. The XM satelitte console fits perfectly and I guess that's why they included it. It would have been nice though if it came with some literature on how to use it -- tory

I have the rockwood 8316SS. Our trailer came with Delphi XM satellite radio. I also have the XM radio Xpress R in my truck as well as a xm boombox. Because of my subscription in my truck I asked if I could get a deal for the trailer, XM declined. They want you to pay for the second subscription. I spoke to XM again in the fall about canceling my truck subscription as I really only use it during camping season, I was told that I could get a lower seasonal rate(not advertised). I jumped on it as it is significantly lower. I was also informed that there is no way of tracking when you are using your radio so you basically get full time service at a lower price. So, long story short, I am not using the satellite radio that came with my trailer, I just use my boombox at the campsite.

when we got ours I asked if I could get a free trial and the gave me 3 months. I only listened when I was at home working on the trailer and decided it was not worth the expense.

I got the same TT. As you we received the unit also. Mine also came with the car kit and I was told I could get the dock to use it in the house. So I looked into it, noticed a lot of people have problems with the company, charges and bad customer service. I read somewhere that someone did get the service however he got it with a prepaid credit card so Sirius couldn't continue to charge his regular credit card. I haven't got to camp in my TT yet but if I do activate it I may do the same as that person did. Congrats on the new TT.
Happy Camping!

I was one of the first to subscribe. After a few years it's all commercial except for a handful of stations. I got tired of the viagra commercials and the shall we say 'enhancement' product commercials and told them to shove it.
The gave me free service for a month a while back...I'm so glad they did...I have not missed a thing!
I wanted it for news...to listen to 2 or 3 minutes of news you have to listen to 3 to 5 minutes of commercials! The commercials have not changed...do we have a 'size' problem in this country?LOL
