Size and type of 2nd a/c rockwood 8295ws

Hi All,
just got our 8295ws off the lot with pre-wire for 2nd a/c and 50 amp service. NOT paying $1200 for the dealer to install an a/c that costs about $600. Question is do i really need 13.5k btu just for our master bedroom? And if you have added a 2nd a/c which brand or model did you use, I am liking the lower profile units....
thanks!

The need for a second AC really depends on the weather where you camp mostly

After we got our A.C. on the 2018 8295WS fixed, it cools ok. Not enough for the wife that's for sure. I guess I thought maybe the ducting would connect and force some of the air to assist the otheer rooms? Thus weekend we are attempting to do the extra pimping of our main A.C. with insulation and pipe covers. I agree that 13.5 seems a bit much if it does t tie back to the ducting.

I'll start looking more into it near the new year, to get ready for next season. Maybe I can find a 10k but or something like that that may run off of 15 amps if needed on occasion.

I don't know- you've got a 30K plus investment in your RV and you don't want to spend the $600.00 on the 13.5 upgrade? I know, plus labor. The first time you're camped somewhere and it's really hot, you might regret it. We have the 15 in front and the 13.5 in the back, and seems to work well when it's REALLY hot. Stay cool!

I installed a Dometic Penguin II 13.5k on my bedroom. The 13.5k keeps it at a set temp during the night for sleeping. Also having the 13.5k we leave it set at a lower temp than the living area. During milder warm days the living area A/C could stay cool without it running constantly. The means less A/C noise.

Yes tdst i understand, for me it's not about spending the money. It's about finding the right AC for us. Just because the dealer would install one thing doesn't mean that's the best unit for us (but it may be!).

Makes sense to go with at least a 13.5 that way they can run more quietly.

thanks!

Actually to large of an AC can do more harm then good. Sized right they cool the air and remove the humidity keeping the inside dry. To large an ac cools to set point to fast and leaves the dampness in the walls causing mold and mildew. My statement is from years of installing HVAC in residential and commercial spaces.
