I have a slide awning/cover that looks to be bolted to the slide and operates when the slude is moved in or out. My question/concern is protecting it in a storm. Is it retractable without having to bring in the slide? Has anyone had any problems with damage? Thanks,

No they cannot be retracted with the slide out. There is no manual operation for them that I know. The purpose of them is to proctect to some degree the top of the slide which is much more important to me in a storm than protecting that awning. Since most of them are designed to make a full wrap of the bar they don't seem to have a problem ripping at the bar like a patio awning does. We have weathered some very strong storms (winds in excess of 60mph) with ours and have had no problems. We have noticed on our large slide that it does pool water though so if we are getting a lot of rain I may close the slide and open it again to get the water off the awning but that is it.

Thanks. We got the same pooling our first camp out with the TT. I bumped in the side to dump as well. Appreciate the information. Puts me at ease as we head out for four nights this week. Had a few strong storms roll through the DC area last week. Cheers,
Agree with NWJeeper...we've been through some nasty winds/storms with ours in Colorado and you may hear it bounce around but seems very sturdy. We also get the pooling and after a heavy rain pull the slide in to dump. Usually try to trick someone into standing nearby so they can get a nice shower

I don't pull mine in to dump the "pool." Instead I get up on the roof and get after the water with a broom. Might toss a little soap in there. Cleans the awning and gets rid of the water.
