slide seal

We have a new Rockwood 2109s and have it stored inside for the winter. would it be best for the slide seals to leave it open an inch or two over the winter? Any thoughts?

I'm one of those keep the slides in when not being used people (less exposed to the elements). Being inside, I'd just leave it opened or closed, either way. I would hesitate to leave it part way as there's nothing to really seal off the inside of the trailer...you might find it a critter hotel when you go back to it.

My owner's manual says to store with the slide in, so I do.

Fully closed or fully open - anything in between will allow just was raspivey said, space to allow vermin to get in.

I agree with the others. Additionally I occasionally, once or twice a year for me, spray the rubber seals with a product that is suitable for rubber seals to give them long life and keep them from drying out.

Does anyone just use Armor All for slide seals? I can't find any "overpriced stuff made specifically for RV even though it's just the same as you can buy at Auto Zone" locally at the moment.

I read a tip somewhere that baby powder does the same thing.

Haven't tried it, though.

Don't use armor all. Will eventually cause seals to crack. Ever seen a cars dash treated with armor all and exposed to the sun. Need to use a product like 303 or baby powder.

I've used Armour All for years - 30+, on all of my vehicles, including the rubber seals on the TT. All of the rubber looks like the day it was made, - supple with no discoloration.
