Slide supports or not?

I have a 2011 Rockwood 8265WS, (same as a Flagstaff 8526RLWS) and am concerned about the weight that the slideouts in the living area can support. The slideouts are deeper than we have had in the past which makes for more leverage on them, and at times we travel with four couples and gather in the living area in the evening for games or viewing the tv. I realize that these are not long slideouts, and maybe I am concerned for no reason. Does anyone have any knowledge of problems with these or am I good to go without supports under them? Thanks.

From what I've heard, they're designed to carry their own weight and the use of supports can, in fact, void the warranty. I'd check with the dealer to be certain specific to your carriage.

I would not use them. if you ever got a low tire or the ground got soft after a rain then the slide supports would hold the slide and you could get a lot of damage if the camper dropped and the slide didn't.

My Flagstaff V lite has those same very deep slides, and I've had it 3+ years now with no problems from that. Mine has the Superslide, with the couch/bed and dining table in it, and another slide for the bedroom. No problems!! Randy

Slide out locks

If you feel you must have slide out supports, save yourself a lot of $$$ and try the adjustable slide out locks that come with the TT. I tried it and they worked fine. I had to collapse them all the way in but they fit under the slide out.

You dont have to us them...they are designed to carry the wieght. You can do more damage if you do lose pressure in a tire and the slide has the wieght on the jack you'll destroy the slide-out. Not worth the risk!

slide supports are old holdovers from the days when slideouts were new and not well engineered.
things have changed since them and nearly all manufacturers don't recommend them. in fact, using them may void your warranty.
they are much better built/engineered now and don't require supports.

I have them too, but in 5 years, have not used the support. One reason, is when I first did it, it was Damaging the material from rubbing, that lasted 1 trip..lol

I am confused (again - getting old - filed for SS today).

We talking about slide "supports" (go UNDER the slide out to "support it when extended") or are we talking about slide LOCKS (that keep the slide closed when traveling)?

IMO:

Slide Supports - Not needed - may cause damage
Slide Locks - use ONLY if provided by the manufacturer
