Small Counter Top Dehumidifier
Has anyone used one of the small thermo electric countertop dehumidifiers in their travel trailer? This past weekend we were camping and it was quite cold outside. The heat was running all weekend. We had a large amount of condensation in the trailer. I'm just wondering if anyone has ever used one of these and how efficient they are.

Open your vents and the condensation will go away.

I just put a eva-dry self contained unit on our counter. It is a stand alone unit that is plugged in only to recharge the desiccant.
Have not used it yet, this weekend and following will be the maiden voyage to see if it cures our condensation issues as well.

We use an Eva- dry and have years. Ours is one of the larger ones and cost about $70. We have never had a condensation problem. We do keep our vents open and the heat at a moderate level. We also use it in the summer to help cool the trailer.

I have an Eva-dry that I use while my trailer is in storage. It does absorb moisture, but I highly doubt it will have any effect on your condensation issue. They just don't absorb moisture fast enough.
When we use our heater, we crack open our ceiling vents and also unzip side vents (not very much) to get a little cross ventilation. That has greatly reduced (but not eliminated) our condensation problems. Next year, I'm getting the PUGs which I've heard also help considerably.

Yeah, I am wondering if it will do well as well.. But I will give it a shot. If not I'll prob just either continue to open the bathroom vent or pony up the $150 for one of the small 30 or 40 pint dehumidifiers..

A real dehumidifier (like a household sized one) is an air conditioner running inside the house. It sucks air into the cold side, passing it over a condenser, where water forms and drops into either a tank or hose system, and blows hot air into the room. It dries, but it also makes the room warmer. Sometimes a lot.
We have a large one we use at home, but simply venting takes care of most of the moisture in the RV. We camp in some pretty cold weather, too.

I had one in my small trailer in the past. They work, but they can remove a limited amount of moisture in a day. So in less you have an A liner or a small PUP you will not be happy. Currently use a 30 Pint standard one. Ran separate power and drain thru floor. I don't have to empty or leave TT plugged in. Works great.

They are *THE BOMB* no more nasty damp-rid for us. We have used them for a season now (here in the deep HUMID South) and they work very well. Better news: since they are working all the time they seem to improve on the efficienciy of our 2 AC. We have NO problems keeping the unit at 70 deg in 100 deg heat!

You can get them from Amazon for @ $30 for a pair (and, yes, you want one fore and aft in your unit)

Recently purchased the eva dry 2000. Bought towards end of AC season so can't give you much feedback. Used once with furnace on and I can see that it removed condensation that I normally experience. In that respect, I give it a plus. This one is good for 2200 cu ft space which is about what the TT is.
My primary reason for this was to improve the efficiency of the 13.5 K Btu AC in the TT. Wrong season to evaluate it's efficiency on this. Did run in TT at home and it pulled about 2C. of water out of the air. so, it does function. Reviews on it were pretty decent so I took the bait.
Weighs about 6 lbs. Size 14 x 9 x 6, makes very little noise and the reservoir holds 2L. Specs say it will pull 20 oz/day at 85 degrees and 86% humidity. @Amazon. For $80 if it improves the AC efficiency and allows it to cycle, I'm happy

Those with a dehumidfier, do you drain into kitchen sink or shower to grey water tank?

So it did help with the foggy windows in the morning? I saved the receipt for it and box... Figuring if it did not work... Back it would go..

Many of the smaller ones have a tank to hold the water... The karger ones seem to have the ability to also have a hose attached but they are the larger ones so it seems and might take up more space than we have in the trailers. Either one would work, depends on where you want the unit to sit. My sinks and shower all drain to one tank though..

I added a 3/8 clear hose thru the shower pedestal then thru the bottom of the trailer . Just inside the trailer I added a quick connect. Then a matching quick connect to a 3/8 hose to the dehumidifier. Works great and no worry about filling anything. I originally ran into the shower but there was some rust in the dehumidifier discharge and it would stain the shower floor. I can send pics if needed.
