Some 2109S mods

Our 2109S was purchased early this year and we have had a chance to get over 20 nights camping in so far this season and have added some personal touches that make it a little better for our needs.

We dry camp/boon dock almost exclusively. Our roads are rarely paved for sometimes hundreds of kms to and from our favourite spots. These mods may not be for you but I wanted to share in case someone else can benefit from them.

First and foremost adding 300watts of solar and a bogart package was top of the list. I won't get into full details.

Next was some wheel and splash protection. There is nothing worse than draining mud caked tank valves so some mud flaps. The bare aluminum looking wheel finish didn't suit the trailer either so they received a coating of anthracite dip it (like plasti dip) the wheels are dirty but you get the idea.

The microwave was pulled for more storage as we never use one and currently temporary boxed in. A new door matching the others is on the list to order.

The inside closet door wasn't practical for us so I added some shelves.

Due to the gravel roads I wanted to really protect the front of the trailer. Some people may not like the look but I am completely happy with it. LineX the front of the trailer with a color pulled from the side of the trailer. The A frame was done as well in black.

The inside where the Bogart monitor lives with a simple weather station installed. I will also be mounting the pure sine wave inverter in the lower cabinet.

I was tired of the large drawers sliding out while travelling. Some child locks were added.

Just some other general storage.

I also forgot to take a photo of the door trim I added to the leading edges of the frameless windows. Rocks hitting the edges have lead to smashed glass. It's most likely the edge was where the rocks hit. So I added some simple black door edging and you can't even notice it.

I like the weather station you added, along with the child safety locks to stop drawers from opening. Nice additions!

Definitely going to add the child safety locks to the large drawers in the kitchen. They've not yet opened completely in transit, but this would give me piece of mind. Thanks!

We just got back from our 15 day Canadian Maritimes trip and really got to test out our 2017 2109s! I have made a lot of mods which I'll post with pictures later but there are two areas that I am going to focus on now. The first is the counter needs more lighting and I want to buy another SunLink LED light to match the others and install it to the left of the stove. Does anyone know where you can buy these? I have scoured the web and can not find anything that matches what is in my camper.
The second area is some sort of towel rack that I can hang in the shower. We didn't use our shower (used the ones in the Provincial and National parks) but would have wet towels draped over the glass shower doors the entire time. Does anyone have a good idea as crafting a towel rack or clothes line in the shower that could be removed if you want to use the shower?

For towel racks we have two that hang over the bathroom door. One faces in for towels the other faces out for jackets and sweaters, ball caps etc. I think we got them at the Dollar Store.

We also have 2-3 hooks I hung on the wall behind the toilet. If you have the wall unit behind the toilet this may not work but the adjacent wall may work. The hooks are the 3M removable style that you can peal off should you not like them. They are more than sturdy enough for damp towels and more.

As far as lighting goes, we have not had any issues with it so I haven't previously looked where you can source it. It would also be easy to add a length of LED interior strip lighting to it. You can get entire rolls for under $15 from Amazon and it is 12volt. It would really brighten up your space.

We also have two over the door hooks but the towels just hang there and don't dry (it was particularly damp on our trip). I also hate to have the wet towels hang next to the wood. I was thinking about trying to take two over the door hooks and use them over the shower stall wall on opposite sides-perhaps even extending a clothes line between them so that when we are on the move they will dry. I'll come up with a plan and let everyone know if it works!

We have this towel bar that hangs off the side of the shower. We got it from our dealer in Wisconsin; I have no idea who makes it and haven't found it online.

Air drying towels on the East coast in high humidity vs the foot hills and the dry prairies would have its disadvantages.

i've lost count of how many miles i have towed my 2015....alot...9000 miles this year alone...totally great rig.
i added a generator platform to the front because no load allowed on rear bumper,a satellite dish on the roof,changed shower head,insulated the skylite over shower with styrofoam...still get lots of light and added a 110v outlet in front storage.

I don't think the bathroom doors are wood. They look more like plastic or plastic coated fiberboard.
Does anyone know for sure?

Your mods look great. If you do a lot of boondocking and haul a lot of fresh water I would be sure to check you freshwater tank supports. I have added some 2 inch angle iron over the angle iron that was there just in case. Forest River service rep told me it cautions about hauling water while traveling on page 54 of the manual. The are some threads about this. Just a heads up but you probably already know about this.

I had reading lights (same as the ones above the couch) installed above the bed. That way we each have an individual reading light. The light that it come with is blinding, and is hard to read with.

I'd like to see the trim you added to the windows. Our new 2109S doesn't have a cover over the front window like yours and the widow was cracked when we went to pick it up.

They are one step up from cardboard.
