Something to check on a new trailer

We picked up our new 2304ks in Oklahoma at Camperland on sept 21st. It is a 4 hour drive for us from Kansas City. The walk Thru was very thorough and I was pleasantly surprised. At home I began going thru all of the manuals and checking everything I could. We started loading all the stuff from the old trailer into the new one. When I got to putting tools and needed equipment in the bay under the Murphy bed, I saw a hand crank for the stabilizer jacks. The problem is our tt has the BAL electric stabilizers. The handle did not fit. How do I get these up in an emergency? Luckily my local camper supply had one so I bought it. Then I looked for the emergency crack handle for the power tongue jack. No such luck.
I have had to use one before and it is a really odd socket size. I called the dealer and they said they would look into it. Knowing that was probaby a dead end, I called the manufacturer I found in the paperwork. They said they do not sell them separately but he would see if he could get one. He emailed me later he would be sending one out. I got it a few days later. The dealer has never called back. I also bought a big bottle jack and made sure I could jack the trailer up properly to change a tire.
So emergency crank handles are on the list of things to check if a motor goes out, or a fuse blows you don't have.

The crank may be for manually cranking in the slideout.

And/or it fits your power jack so you can crank it without power.

The handle that I did get was the big hex end that fits manual sissor jacks that I don't have. The schwinteck slide does not crank out. You have to disengage the motors. The factory just screwed up. You gotta watch them like a hawk.

I have a Schwinteck slide and I got the crank. Fits both my scissor jacks and my power tongue jack. Both take a 3/4" socket.

If you have a power tongue jack, then your PDI was lousy if they didn't tell you how to crank it manually. (Of course, we already know it was lousy, since they didn't even tell you that you had a crank!)

Yep, they sure missed that part and so did I. My power tongue jack takes a 21/32 socket with extension. These are small items I think might be overlooked by new owners.

If you have a manual crank for the slide, make sure it will couple up with the mechanism that does the goesinta and goesoutta for the slide! I had to "adjust" mine.

Great post. Recently went to pick up our camper from storage and had a dead battery so no power jack. No biggie, I thought, just remove the handy dandy level bubble from the top of the jack and use the handle.... wrong! the handle had a hex type socket and the jack required some special shape resembling a rectangle with rounded ends on the long dimension. Ended up plugging in the trailer to my truck and after a bit I had enough juice to power the jack.

I ended up cutting a slot in the hex socket that allows me to crank the jack manually. But that got me wondering if the long handle crank would fit the stabilizer jacks and manual slide drives, as I was told. It did in fact fit the stabilizers perfect but was too small to fit the slide over rides. I ended up grinding out the inside of the crank so it now fits all.

While I was at it, I observed the direction of the rotation of the manual slide actuators while moving the slide out and marked it on the frame where it comes through.

Now you've got me wondering. My PDI guy told me the crank would fit the tongue jack and showed me where to pop out the cover over the hole to access the manual crank head. But I've never actually removed the cover and tried the manual crank that I have. Sounds like something I need to do come spring.

You guys got me wondering about my 2304ks slide out I was told you can't manually crank the slide back in if no power that you had to disconnect the motor, I'll have to take a better look

You should have a Schwintek. I've attached some Schwintek manuals for you.

Rockfordroo----On a side note, I always keep a battery jump pack in my truck. So if I go to pick up the camper and the battery is dead, I just attach the battery pack to the battery using the attached cables on the pack. The one I carry also has an air compressor for airing up a flat tire as well. Small enough to keep behind my back seat and very handy

We picked up our FW on a Friday and went straight to camp. Rainy night and we decided to watch a movie. Well, no luck. DVD didn't work. Contacted the dealer and they ordered a new one and installed the following week. Pick up the trailer again on a Friday and went straight to camping. Yo don't want to know what happened. I was so upset, not only for the issue, but also because I didn't check the unit when I picked it up. Took it back, they order another one and this time I decided to installed myself. Well, the new one came with a red sticker in the back that reads "REMOVE SCREW BEFORE INSTALLATION". Yes, unbelievable! Two DVD players that probably work fine were disposed.

Thanks, Rcguy! I'm picking up our new 2304KS on Friday in central Texas. I'll make sure to get the tech to actually locate and fit test all of the manual controls for the jack and slide. I have the manual stabs, and already bought the portable drill fitting to make them "power" as well.

I'm also curious how much room there is to walk or squeeze past the kitchen slide when it is in. I have an RV storage unit, 13 ft wide, waiting and am deciding whether to try to extend the slide out or not when it is inside the unit.
