Got a feeling the locks would rust off before there is a problem with it.

ordered the 50A hardwired unit. Could of got little cheaper at CW, but comes from manufacturer and would take 4-6 weeks. Few bucks more to get from Amazon and will have Monday.

For me the portable ones work better as can check different sites without moving trailer....also can use anywhere to check info.....like at house to check current on different items......good luck with whatever you choose.....

Reverse polarity in the AC sense is the black hot wire connected to the "silver" screw and not the "brass" screw and the white wire on the other. It would still "read" 110 VAC, but the polarity would be reversed.

I remember the correct orientation mnemonic as "Black on Brass"

What won't work properly is the GFCI outlets in the camper with polarity reversed.
Correct.
My mistake. Ty

according to the tracking, my Progressive Industries unit will be here tomorrow, and I just ordered it this morning. LOVE Amazon Prime. Guess I have one more thing to add to my to-do list this weekend.

I just put my 50 amp PI, ems in last night. It looks huge...until you try to fish those 6awg wires around in it, and its really a pain trying to get it thru the amp sensors too. U kinda wish it was bigger!

I love the readout!!
Its strange at first hearing the switch get "thrown" the first couple of times you power the unit on, and after the delay.

think I will go get about 3ft of wire so I don't have to cut the original wiring, that way in the future I can easily remove it to put in a different camper.

I installed a hard wired Progressive one yesterday. Reading other posts on this site gave me the idea of using couplers on both sides of the unit. That way you can easily bypass it (or remove it). Photos posted on this thread...

if only 2 pair of 50amp plugs wouldn't cost almost as much as the PI unit

I got 5ft. And just pulled the origonal wire out of the breaker box. Little trick, use the original end as a reference to cut the ends varying lengths so it goes in the breaker box easier.

30A portable

Just ordered the 30A portable Surge Guard tonight from CW along with a few other goodies for the TT.
They included the Locking Hasp for free in the purchase. A $18.79 savings on their website.
Let's see how long the stuff takes to get to my door.

hope you aren't in a hurry for it. They are cheaper than anybody right now with their sale prices. I was all ready to check out on their website till I saw "ships directly from manufacturer. Allow 4-6 weeks for delivery". For about $15 more, Amazon had it to me in a day and a half.

Surge-Guard question

Thinking of pulling the trigger on the new 34750. This may seem obvious but not to me. Can you take the unit to a pedestal and just plug it in to check the power? Everything I read says to plug in the RV cable but if you just wanted to check several pedestals can you plug it in without the RV cord attached? Do you have to wait the 128 seconds to get a good/bad condition reading. My thinking is don't even think about hooking up the rig until power is checked.

Thanks

I like to plug mine in and let it go thru the test check before I bother to drag the power cord out, that way if I need to move all I have to do is unplug Sergey and move.

I have a hardwired 50 PI ems. I did like Turbs and added cord ends to my wiring so I can take it out quickly and easily when/if the time comes. I figured $400 on a $35000 camper wasn't so bad and I like that the Sabre cannot get plugged in without the protection for those times DW or my DD's help. It has saved(possibly anyways) me from faulty wiring or bad outlets four times in a little over a year. All were simple fixes which I completed for the park's, with their permission. I'm not a licensed electrician but am a maintenance guy and have a fair understanding of electrical. Bottom line, get a EMS, whether hardwired or portable.
