Rugged, that would make to much sense! I'm an idiot when it comes to anything electrical. I'm sure there's a reason. Earlier in this thread someone said you turn it off if you connect to satellite/cable.

The booster is 12v so it will be a drain on your battery if left on and second it acts as a coaxial switch to switch between antenna and cable input.
