Tire low or not?

One of my tires looks low on air but when I check it, it reads 50 pounds which is what it says on the tire. Also, I've had two service people check it and they say the same thing. They say it looks low because of the weight of the slide on that side (but the other tire on that side looks fine). Does that sound right to you?

If you have checked it and 2 service people have checked it and all got the same reading then I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

The position of the trailer makes a difference. Is it perfectly level. Is it the front or rear tire?

When your tires blow because of the broken belts get a higher rated tire. Drive slower until that time.

This photo isn't clear but it's the tire on the left (which is towards the front). There is a 6' bedroom slideout to the left and a 13' living/dining room slide out to the right.

Everyone that sees it agrees that it looks like it's got less air in it than the other tire. Some people even point out that I need to get it checked.

Cadman99 - yes, it's level on the ground.

The two tires on the other side look fine.

I encourage safety. if you can leave your unit there. Jack up the unit (jack up on u-bolt and not axle. and pull the left tire off, put spare on. Put the tire taken off and put it on the right side. put the right side tire on the left side. Do you have the same effect (left side still looks flat)? Or does the 'left' tire that is now on the right look 'flat'....? If the now 'Left' (good?) tire looks 'flat'..... I would look at the axle real close. If the 'former' left tire on the right side still look 'flat', I would think hard about the tire. If they both look 'good', then run it that way. Also....How does the 'spare; look on the unit. this is what I would do to start clearing my mind..... You need to sleep good at night and you need to trust your equipment. If you think that something is 'not right', then it is not right, until you find out why.

Just for fun in case you haven't already, check the load range on all four tires.
The one in question might be an odd ball C and the others are D. Or maybe there is just more weight over that tire
My Wildwood came with C rated tires that spec out 1610 lb. per tire or a total of 6440 total weight for the whole camper. GVW for the unit is spec at 7480.
I was noticing one tire's wear pattern was indicating low pressure (edge wear pattern) and couldn't figure out why. The guys on the forum (thanks Herk) really helped me sort this out. It was definitely the weight of the slide over that tire.
Obviously we are upgrading to the next load range for safety reasons and peace of mind.

Here's the sticker:

Front: GAWR 4000 lbs - ST225/75R15/C - 50 psi per tire

Rear: same thing

Dry Weight = 7534 lbs Cargo not to exceec 1272 lbs.
GVWR 8856 lbs.

I think if I read your sticker right the axles are rated at 4000 lb
On the side of my tire were two different load specs. Single axle and dual. My dual rating was 1610 lb per tire and was well under the 4k axle rating. So if both the tires and the axles are rated below 8k how can they post a GVWR over 8k??
Tongue weight?? I don't get it. There are other guys in the forum with some really good experience with these questions. I'm sure they'll chime in and help us out.

I looked on the tire and it says Max load 2150 at 50 psi

1820 if single axle, 1610 dual. Just checked again to be sure.
With the excessive wear I'm seeing and some of the places I'm headed to this summer I'd rather be safe than sorry. Marathon L/R D for me

Tongue weight. My axles are rated at 7k each, so 14k rating for the 2 axles. Gross weight 15,500 for the whole fifth wheel. Axles are around 6k each on the scales, pin weight at 2680.

How Old are these tires,. I have the same wheels , Are your Tires Nitro filled. And if so I have the same. What I have noticed with my nitro filled in cooler temps they seem low. But after about a mile down the road. I notice there are back up to normal. They're not suppose to flux to much. But was told they will when sittin in cooler weather. But will go back to normal once the tire gets a little heat in them.

I have a 2013 and these are the original tires..just about a year old. I don't think I have Nitro in them...at least I know I didn't put it in. I doubt the factory or dealer would put it in when for the heck of it. What's the cost of putting Nitro in them?

Not worth the effort. Nitrogen is good for racecars and airplanes,

p.s. if you have green valve stem caps, they came from the factory with nitrogen. Just a sales gimmick IMO.

yes Most of the campers coming in have nitro in them, Mines a 2014 and came with it in it. But Old Coot right there only good for race cars and airplanes really don't make that big of a diffrence in camper tires.. But I figured I leave it in until I need to change it. But yes if you got green valvecaps then you got nitro in them ..

Well you are going to have to find a scale where you can measure weight on each tire. That will tell you for sure.
