Tire size for Rockwood Signature Ultralite 8315BSS?

My folks have a Signature Ultra Lite 8315BSS with a special request for tire covers for Christmas.

How in the world do I find out what size tires they have?

It's written on the side of the tire- but I'm assuming that actually inspecting the tires is out of the question....

Yeah, it's about 1,000 miles from me presumably buried in snow.

Heh. Ok, so let me just sulk away and hope someone else comes along.

I'm going to edit your thread title to include the model. Hopefully someone with the same camper comes along with an answer.

Rockwood ultra lights come with 15" tires, I'm almost a 100% sure. If they do not fit they can exchange them. I just looked them up they are 15" unless they changed them. Nice present for them. 225/75R15

That trailer is similar in weight and length to my Flagstaff.

FYI, Flagstaffs and Rockwoods are sister lines that are produced in the same factory.

My Flagstaff 831RLBSS has ST225/75R15 tires on it...........and your parents may have the same.

So if it says "fits 30" to 32" wheels", then we should be in good shape?

Designer Tyre Gard 4-pack - Fits 30” to 32” Wheels - ADCO 3962 - Tire Covers - Camping World

If they are 15 inch tires, they may be a little small for those covers.....but the covers would definitely go over them with room to spare.

The way to approximate a tire size total diameter (I only do it a 100 times a week) is to take the section width multiplied by aspect ratio, multiplied by 2. You then take this product and divide it by 2540 (since the section width is in millimeters, we need to convert to inches and there are 25.4 mm's to an inch). You then take this number and add it back to the rim diameter to get approximate total tire/wheel diameter in inches.

Confused? Let's simplify it for our tire size of 225/75R15

225 (section width) X 75 (aspect ratio) X 2 = 33750

33750 divided by 2540 = 13.29 inches (we multiplied it by 2 above to get both sidewalls heights)

13.29 + 15 (rim diameter inches) = 28.29 inches approximate total tire diameter

It's an approximation, but is usually very close.

I find it easier to use whole numbers in the multiplying and dividing, but we could have actually used 225 X .75 and then divided by 25.4. I find it a lot easier to move the decimal places and use whole numbers (like 2540). Less room for data entry error.

or you can look at the spec charts, like for the Goodyear Marathon.

Dude, I may be an engineer, but that doesn't mean I know tires! I know how to build bridges! LOL.

Thank you.

There are plenty, but you may not always be in front of a computer. Once you get the formula down (it's easy, which is why I explained it in detail), you can do it a lot faster than you can go to a website and enter the numbers.

I can do it on our adding machine in about 5 seconds.

It's a real hit with the ladies at the nightclubs. LOL
