tongue jack motor not working

When going to hook up tt the switch would not move the tongue up or down. First thought was that switch was bad. Was taking cover off and water came running out. Underneath both gears were rust covered and there was standing water.

Elec. checks showed power into switch but when thrown either direction noise indicated the 20A fuse in cover was thrown. Then no power to switch. After a couple minutes fuse reset and power came back to switch.

I check on forum and found several where water had gotten in also and motor had to be replaced. Called for roadside assistance and they will be here tomorrow. Will follow up with what needed to be done. It is my guess that water was coming in through the worthless bubble on top. Factory installed bubble on front and back would have saved a lot of aggravation.

Interestingly enough there is no brand name on lift or motor.

tongue jack

same problem, water into motor, replaced under warranty. if you want to raise the trailer you can pull the drive pin and wrench it up or down by hand.

It sounds like you will likely need a new one. We kept our old power jack covered and never had any issues. If you lack a cover, you can set an upside down plastic bucket over it.

X2, I bought a cheap $11 vinyl cover and never had a problem. When you get your jack fixed, buy one of these covers.
