Tow Max Tires or ??
I'm kind of new to this. I have a 2015 rockwood 8289ws diamond.
What are your opinions on the Les Schwab Tow Max trailer tires..
Good ratings
Bad ratings
what do you recomend? who sells them. $$
size is 225/75 15
Kind of scared of what came stock on the new 5ver.

Do a search for them on this or any other RV site. Can't get much worse. Old Les is trying to lead you down the path...The ONLY tire worth considering in the size you need is the Maxxis. ALL the others, including the Goodyear Marathon are made in China and will eventually blow one of the sides of your trailer off when they let go. You have an expensive trailer. You won't save any money buying cheap tires. Get the best there is...

There are many on here who have extremely good success with the Goodyear Marathon, so don't be so quick to eliminate it from your list. I am sure some of them will speak up for them. I haven't used them so all I can say is there are many good stories about them just as there are some who have horror stories, but hey the same applies to the FR trailers, just cause some say they have had trouble doesn't mean there aren't a lot of good ones out there too.

WFD is right. Also, there are all sorts of posts in the forum that you might want to search to see other comments. You might want to even search the Keystone forum to see replies with the same concerns.

Invest in a good TPMS. The best tires made won't last and will fail if not maintained.
Myself , I'm going to swap to a good LT tire this off season.

I have a 2014 Flagstaff 831ress with the same tire size, and I switched to Maxxis load range D as soon as I got the trailer home. They have been great. If you are going to stick with ST tires, Maxxis would be my recommendation.
As I mentioned on another thread, I called Lionshead tire and wheel (574-533-6169) the supplier for Forest River, and they said that my wheels were not rated for 80psi. That meant that load range E was out of the question. For the weight of my trailer, D's are just fine.

I also switched the original PowerTouring LRC tires that came on my 5er for Goodyear Marathon LRD tires but not especially because the originals were Chinese (so are the Marathons).
I had Chinese (Nanco) LRC tires on my previous TT for the 9 years I had it (yes I know now that 9 years was too long, but they were always covered, run at 50psi and still looked great).
The reason I switched them on the 5er was because under normal loaded conditions, the weight on those LRC tires would have been far too close to the maximum load ratings for my comfort. On the TT, it was no problem since the load per tire would have been below ~1100 lbs and thus <65% of max load. However, the fully loaded 5er could get over 95% of max load. 95% is just too close for me and going to the LRD tires gets me back to about 82% which I can live with (would have cost a whole lot more to go to LRE).
Keep them covered when parked, use a TPMS on the road and get out and enjoy!

LT Tires
We went with Maxxis tires on our Prime Time Lacrosse because we do 7 hour days at 65 MPH for over 10 days /year. Any tire can take you 100 miles to the nearest campsite, these "Chinese" are all you need if you do not travel extensively at Interstate speeds.
Many of these LT tires are "off shore" but the chemistry and quality control can be very different. The Goodyear Marathon have a good name and I have never read a bad comment on the Maxxis tires. Maxxis has marketed their tires to the "off road" market for years and has specialized in developing their tires for these heavy loads with strong sidewalls. Great tires !

Watch ebay seller Discounttiredirect and they have a $100 instant rebate. No freight. No tax. I got a set of D 215 15 tires for $312. They have Maxxis too.

Maxxis are no longer made in the USA, forgot what country but not the USA the last I read.

Mine were made in Thailand if I recall correctly.

Maxxis has manufacturing facilities in locations including Yuan Lin, Taiwan; Xiamen, China; Kunshan, China; Rayong Province, Thailand; and Vietnam.

I'm not sure, actually but I was pretty sure it was Thailand. I could be wrong, but it's definitely not USA.

Maxxis has operations in Taiwan, China, Thailand, Vietnam.
For what it's worth, no ST tires are made in the US. They are all made in the Far East.

I've already had a Tow Max tread separate. I replaced it with a Maxxis, and will replace the other 3 with Maxxis in a couple of months. I've had one set of GY Marabombs... no more.

After having three tire problems (sidewall leaks in the spare, bulging sidewall, and another slow leak) in first year and 5,000 miles, we replaced all with load range D Marathons. I prefer Michelin but they did not have a correct size available.

X'S 2 I got 6000 miles on mine before a blowout. IMO you got a good tire now, I have had GY on all my trailers and never had a problem, always changed them between 4 and 5 years, never even got a flat. As you know that this always causes an argument on tires, but I swear by them myself. You made a great choice....Smart Move, I got the 15" "D" rated and run them at 65 PSI what they say. After over 4000 miles on them they still look like new....

I have the Marathon's also, but starting to have problems with them after about 17,000 miles on them. My trips are about 4,000 miles everytime we go. I know I am going to start something but my friends are telling me to go to LT. I ahave ST 23580R16 now. My trailer is just over 16,000 lbs. 37' Brookstone 5r
