Trailer transport

Has anyone transported a trailer from RVW to Arizona or California with good success. I've looked at uship, but see a lot of negative reviews so I am very leery about using them.

RV wholesalers in OH.?

I have not but would do such a trip if the cost would be less than buying local.

That all depends on the TT involved, but I might do it for you if you pay for the fuel both ways and give me the opportunity to break-in the TT for 7-10 days while I travel west...

Yes Rv Wholesalers. I've already purchased the trailer and it is on order with the factory. I have to decide if I'm going to drive up there to haul it back myself (1900 miles one way) or use a transport company to haul it to Arizona.

I would figure the cost of the trip to OH. fuel, meals, Hotels your time and what ever else.

Compare that to the price of having it done.

The trip back I would call a camping trip and take my time to see a few sights.

We drove from Napa Valley to Chicago and back to pick up our new HTT.
Almost bought it from RVW but House of Camping beat their price.
4000 mile trip but still saved over 4k, even after trip costs.

Looked into having it transported but it was too expensive.

RVW will meet you anywhere in between. We were planning on meeting the RVW driver halfway, in Wyoming.
That way you can cut delivery costs.

We live in Texas and purchased our 5th wheel from a dealer in Orlando Fl. 12 / 2013. We drove our truck towing a small u-haul with all our camping goodies in it 1200 miles. Spent two nights in a motel while on the road and did the PDI the following day. Camped the next 10 days at several different RV parks in Florida. Did that to check out the camper and it's functions and to visit Florida. Spent the next 15 days camping our way back to Texas. Got to know our RV quite well. Loved the experience and would do it again.

Congrats on the new Rockwood Mini Lite. If it makes reasonable financial sense and you can afford the time, my preference would be to pick it up in OH. Do your PDI at their store before signing any papers and turn the trip into a nice vacation. RVW generally has a good reputation here and the owner is a forum member here, so you can be fairly confident in them. Hopefully others that have had them deliver a unit can provide some feedback on that option.

Bob,
I may take you up on that offer, but won't decide until late April. I have knee surgery scheduled for early April and hoping that I will be able to drive by mid May. If so, my wife and I will go pick it up and have a little vacation on the way coming back home.

I am picking up my new TT in upstate IN in about four weeks and plan to drive the nearly 600 miles from western NC in my Tundra with my startup gear. After I go through the PDI and sign the paperwork, I plan to stay in the area to shake out any bugs while I am near the dealership. My overall savings are substantial compared to a local dealer (none of whom had the model I wanted) or paying a transport company and the shakedown phase is an important aspect of taking possession. While I am hoping for a perfect unit, I'll be in a better position to get any issues dealt with promptly.

Just sayin...

Yes, my brother had transported his RV from California to New York, by hiring We Will Transport It service, where they are the one of the best auto shipping California company for RV 5th wheel transport. If you want, you may use their service as they offer best deals for transporting and valued their customers who have vehicles to ship within the United States and across the globe.

From my understanding transport drivers are paid about $1.30 a loaded mile. You will pay more to the Transport company. How much, I do not know. I would like to know more about the contract, who pays for losses? A transport company will have all the insurance, tags, paperwork. Most of these companies work out of the Elkhart Indiana area.

I was in this same situation about 5 months ago. I live in Peoria, Az and decided to go back and pick it up myself and make a small vacation out of the return home plus got to try out everything in the trailer. We came home the south route and went thru nashville, memphis, lafayette, san antonio, las cruces and then back home. It cost less than any of the transport quotes and we enjoyed the trip.
