Babock, do you know what type of tank support is above the coroplast on your trailer? From underneath yours looks the same as mine and I have new channels to mount but, wondered if it made sense to get the underbelly pulled down to look at or fix anything in there before I mount the new channels.

There is nothing above the chloroplast as far as I know. The supports are only below. There might be a lip it sits on the sides but the main weight are the small c channel below.

Apologies for the 1st picture being upside down.I-replaced the 1 1/2” by 1/8th “ supports with 2”x2”x1/4” angle on the crossmembers and 1 1/2” x1 1/2” x1/4” lateral supports. It was a mess under there. We do a lot of state no hook up sites and travel with a full tank often. Took me a few hours to rebuild....had a major sag in the underbelly. They should Go to jail For letting customers pull out of their yard with this type
Of support.putting everybody on the roads life at risk!

How did you attach the new bracing? I just bought a 2509S and we do a lot of off grid camping. So this is something I would like to fix. It’s funny every dealer I talked to acted like they have never heard of this.

Good morning uno,
So I welded the 2x2 angle to the web and flange of the channel on the frame. The channel is pretty lite gauge so I didn’t want the weight of the tank just sitting on the flange.Be sure to pass some of the load to the web .(That part rock wood did get right)
The the 1 1/2” angle I slipped into place between the tank and 2x2 I tack welded to the 2x2’s obviously being cautious of heat transfer to the tank while doing it.Nothing load bearing on those welds .Just keeping them in position.
No need to go to crazy with the welds in case you ever have an issue with the tank,
Hopefully this will take care of the problem.
Good luck with your new trailer, we love ours! Just glad I can tinker with it myself otherwise you’re at the dealers mercy.

Great info - just purchased a 2509s as well and mostly camp in State Parks so would love to reinforce this too before our first trip as we have some downtime now. Any suggestions for connecting without welding? I do not have access to a welder, nor do I possess the skills to do it right. Do you think I could get away with short carriage bolts with the head facing the tank or would this wreck the underbelly?

Not really sure how that would be possible. The tank would have to be in position, so it would be kind of difficult to install the bolts.i guess you could have some angle brackets prewelded to the long cross braces and Tek screw them into the web of the frame. As far as the smaller cross angles you could also have them pre welded to one of the angles then slip the other 2x2 into position.

Hope that was helpful.

Here’s some pics of my 2011 rpod. It gets towed to every destination with a full tank of fresh. Often is left onsite with water for weeks for us to return. Was getting tired of the sag when it came to winterizing and fighting to empty the tank.

Haven’t looked back since.
Afternoon job my welder/plasma cutter and floor jack to lift in myself.

Sorry- I did not take upside down photos.

I rebuilt the entire FW tank support system for our 2020 Mini Lite 2109s.

Used 2" x 2" x 1/4" angle for the main cross members, luckily the factory cross members were welded in 1/4" above the bottom of the frame rail flange so I was able to slide the new ones in under and through bolt to the existing.

Used 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 3/16" angle for the intermediate and cross bracing.

Put 1/2" thick rigid PVC board between the tank and new supports to minimize tank sag.

Everything is bolt-in.

Traveling with full tanks?

So I pulled the cover under neath to look at the tank. I filled it up with water and checked for sagging and I had a little. The n my son yells dad it’s leaking out the front. I found a pinhole in the top of the tank. Now I got to deal with warrant [emoji53]

Looks very nice, good work. I think the trailer manufacturers need to learn from your work. I better go look and check my skinny bands they put on there. Thank you for the information.

Has anybody ever dropped the tank on a 2509s ? I’m curious is it just a rectangular shape or does it have other cavities. Example L shaped
