I had the same problem and was able to improve the comfort by raising the end of the bed by putting 2x4 wood pieces between the floor and the metal fold out supports, as well as sleeping with feet towards the wall. Alternatively, we use 3" memory foam cut to the size of the bed which we roll up and stow under the couch. Either approach, or both together, makes a big difference for our kids/guests.
