TV antenna ?
Hello all,
We've recently taken delivery of our new 2013 Rockwood 8280WS and so far it looks great... just can't wait to get it out and use it!!!
One question I have so far, I was up on the roof looking at the TV antenna and saw that when it is in the down position it rests on the 'transition' hump where the roof slopes to the back. What I mean is the head of the antenna is sitting about 6" (or more) above the roof so the little 'bumpers' are not touching the roof and all the weight of the antenna is resting on the 'hump' of the roof. I'm afraid it will rub there and wear a hole in the room membrane. I'm a bit surprised the trailer was built this way... any suggestions/ideas??

I would get some rubber bumpers and put them on where the shaft meets the roof..When I changed to THE JACK antenna that is what I had to doe because the old bumpers were on the original antenna head. The local hardware should have some bumbers,easy to install.

Thanks for the suggestion, Tbonz. I was thinking of something along the same lines. I think I might just get some lap sealant and put a little blob on the roof where the antenna hits. That way the movement of the antenna could ware on that instead of the roof membrane.
I guess I was hoping someone with the same model trailer could comment as to weather their unit's TV antenna was installed the same way or not.
It just seems like a really strange way to mount it.

from the looks of it looks to be mounted 180 degrees opposite where it needs to be.

Without rotating the entire base you may just need to pad the roof with Eternabond like I did.
Use 2 or even 3 layers at the contact point.

The glass shops are a better place to get them. Used for stone guards on your hood. JUST MAKE SURE YOU PLACE THEM ON THE ROOF and not the antenna itself or they will wear through the rubber roof liner itself.
The kid who put my stone guard on my car set them on the guard and with the wind it wore a hole through the paint and primer in about 3 months.

Roof Antenna
By the looks of the hinge of the roof vent, It looks like the antenna wings are facing towards the hitch. If I am correct correct it is installed backwards. The dealer should reinstall it. Regards: Frank

Hi Frank,
Thanks for the reply but I think it's on the correct way 'round... how can I describe it... the part that's attached to the crank inside is closer to the front of the trailer (when it's down), so it folds toward the back of the trailer. I believe that's the right way around, but I've been wrong once or twice before in my life!!

Roof Antenna
OK thats the correct way. Usually the manufacturer designates a place to mount the antenna. I would consider manufacturing some sort of bracket to have the bat wing portion land on rather than placing stress on the square bars. Regards; Frank
