We live in the Rockies & camp in the mountains
We pull our camper which is a couple feet longer than the 2109S with a Toyota 5.7L. No issues at all.

We pull our 8325ss 35 ft with a GMC 2500 long wheel base diesel duramax .
14.2 mpg towing and 24 Hwy.The motor is a 6.6 duramax .
Can't tell the trailer is back their even on hills and bridges. Never a rpm change at 58 mph going up hills and bridges and no sway or play.
Love it.

TV for 2109S

I'm an experienced camper, towing "smaller units" since '85. I just purchased a new 2109 and need to replace my TV which is too small to tow this trailer. I'm looking for the perfect all around vehicle as a replacement. I'm headed toward retirement with plans of lots of travel north, south, east and west but will use this vehicle for general transportation. I've considered the lighter F150s with ecoboost but really like the convenience of a medium sized SUV. I like lots of safety factor regarding towing, braking, etc. and have been intimidated but posts (not here) regarding side winds/ tractor trailers and tales of woe about "smaller" vehicles. I've seen some posts regarding 4 Runners that might be the answer?
I have a very heavy duty hitch, a Reese WD hitch (chain type) and a sliding friction type sway control. I'd truly appreciate the benefit of your experience and expertise on the subject.
BTW, we are very excited about the 2109 !
Thanks much !
Hi,
We use a 2011 Chevy Tahoe with the factory HD tow package & a WDH. Only sway issues were with 45-50 mph crosswinds or a big rig blowing my doors off going 75+ mph...
On our last trip from SF Bay area to Vancouver then Banff, I averaged 12.5 mpg over the 3500 miles.
So far it's working great for the 2 of us.
Enjoy the unit!
Bob

We have the 2109s and started towing it with a 03 1500 Silverado.
It did just fine but was old in truck years. We upgraded to a 2017 GMC 2500 HD gasser and it's a joy.

With all the advice on this forum regarding tow vehicles for the 2109S I made the decision to upgrade our Nissan Frontier to a 2018 Ford F150, 3.5L ecoboost 4X4 with tow package, 33 gallon tank and the standard 3.31 axle.

I miss the size and the maneuverability of the Nissan and it handled the trailer just fine with no sway but when heading over the mountains it was hard to ignore the line up of vehicles behind our rig towing at 35-40 mph.

I wish the F150 wasn't such a huge, high and hefty vehicle but it gets the same or better mileage than the Frontier and the towing capacity is double and boy does it take off when you hit the gas!

We haven't had the chance to try it out towing our trailer yet since we just got the truck 4 days ago.

Thanks for all the advice.

used to pull our 2109s with 2000 Silverado with a 4.8l. The 4.8 did okay, but the truck was a dog on the hills. Upgraded our truck to a Ram 2500 with a 6.4l gasser and pulled the trailer for a year. The 2500 pulled it like it wasn't there.

I have to recommend getting your TV for you next trailer now. You can always have too much much truck if you decide not to upgrade.

Enjoy your trailer. We loved our

Get close to an F350 4X4 6.7 ~~ better yet come drive mine and you will feel the F150 is really the baby version.

I also upgraded our TV, though I had a better tow vehicle than your Frontier.
I got a 2014 F150 3.5 Ecoboost with Max Tow Package.
Towing capacity over 11k and payload capacity of 1828lbs.

We pulled our 2017 2109s with our 2007 v8 4Runner through the Canadian Maritimes and it did great but the gas mileage was horrible at 9-10. Bought a new 2016 Tahoe without the HD trailer package and it is super! It has a tow/haul button on the shifter that changes the shift points-at 65 mph, we are averaging 12-13 mpg and you can barely feel the 2109!
