Used 2013 2306 - anything to look for?

Hi All -

Wife and I are going to look at a used 2013 Mini-lite 2306 today. Is there anything specific I should look for when considering this used TT? We have 2 small boys and the layout seems perfect. We have looked at a bunch of trailers and generally buy used vehicles, so I am not too fearful. This will be our first trailer and any help or direction would be great.

Thanks!

Hello there we just purchased a 2306 a few days ago. I had done months of research on these and had came up with a few things to consider when looking at them. We loved the layout of 2306 as well the murphy bed. Things I have read about minor problems is checking murphy bed mounts for movement where they are screwed in. thermostat may run higher temp cause radio puts off heat when on and its just beside the thermostat. floor may feel lil spongy in high traffic area for heavier people. one described a small leak coming from antenna area on roof. other than that just go though it an check for quality control that may of been rushed from manufacture. So far we love ours. Good luck

Great trailer we have the sister flagstaff micro lite 23lb. Only issue we had was that prior owner burned out the anode rod in the hot water heater.

So, it ended up that we found a brand new 2014 2306 in Ohio for less than the used locally. We are on our way home with the new trailer and are very excited to camp!

Congrats on your new trailer! While you don't need the answer now but I would had recommended checking for signs of water damage especially on an used unit.

Please do keep us updated on your first trip out, if you don't mind sharing.

We had a great trip up to Wellesley Island on the St Lawrence river. Fantastic time. Next weekend off to Chenango state park in Binghamton!

Great to hear! Love our 2306. We had a leak in our door window, but it was just the caulking. No issues otherwise. Happy camping.

Is there special Caulk? I noticed a spot where the caulk is light but didn't know what to use...

Do you think a mattress pad would fit on the Murphy bed? We too, are looking at the 2306. And what kind of milage are you getting towing it? We have a Ford 150.

Thanks,
Andette

We have the sister trailer by flagstaff and I get 9.5 mpg with my 5.3 v8 gmc envoy Denali.

No Murphy bed in ours but we did get a mattress topper and it works great.

Yes... A mattress pad will fit. We have a 4" memory foam on ours and it still lifts and locks in, no problem.

I'm getting around 9.5 mpg with my tundra.

Not sure how the weight of the 2306 compares to the 2504S that we have, but we tow with a Ford F150 Ecoboost and get about 11.5 mpg (which was quite a shock initially, since I generally get 23 mpg highway and 18.5 around town)

We also added a memory foam mattress topper (I think it was 3", got it from Walmart) and it has a little bit of overhang at the head and foot of the mattress because the RV mattress is a little shorter. But it has no affect on the murphy bed operation, and is one of the most comfortable mattresses I have slept on. My only suggestion is if you get a memory foam topper, let it air out for a few days, the "brand new smell" can be pretty harsh if you are sensitive to those kinds of things

Yes our mattress topper suggested airing it out for at least 24 hours in a well vented area.

We also left the extra few inches hang over the bottom end... And, not only does it not effect the Murphy bed, it gives you and extra couple of inches at your feet as well. Works great.
We got our memory foam at Macy's... No Oder out of the box.

A mattress pad will fit. Just put one on tonight. I usually get 19mpg, but when towing the TT I get between 8 and 9.5.
