I have a Rockwood 8285ss 5er with heaters in the holding tanks but have never used them. We are travelling dry from northern Canada to Arizona this December and need to know if we have to operate these heaters in our holding tanks. Nothing in our manual even mentions them let alone when and how to use them. Any advise would be most welcome.
Are you sure the tank heaters are inside the tank or are they a "wrap around blanket fastened to the outside of the tanks?" (The tank heaters on our Rockwood 2605S are fastened to the outside.) Refer to this website and it may answer your questions: UltraHeat, Inc. - Easy to Operate

Thanks Momma Tac, we cannot see our tanks as the under belly is enclosed. We will check this out with th salesman we bought from , and will check out the website.
they are a simple pad glued to the bottom of the tanks. You only need to turn them on when parked in temps below 30 degrees. They do have a thermostat on them. BTW they are 120VAC powered.
