Washing machine in 8289ws 2018

New to forum and 5th wheeler, here in UK.
We are in the last throws of ordering 8289ws for deliver early 2018 from a UK importer, I have read a number of posts on this forum and I must say quite impressed with the input by the members.

A couple of question has any one installed a washing machine in 8289ws, the particular machine we have checked out is a 3kg Zanussi.

The DVD player that's installed is there a manufacturer name ,I ask this question hoping the zone can be changed from zone 1 to zone 2 via the remote.

Are catalytic wall mounted propane heaters used to give localized heat ,what's the pro and con's.

Thanks in anticipation.

We have the same model, and I don't really know where you would put the washer/dryer at. The stock DVD/Entertainment System is generally a piece of crap; at least ours was. We are on our second one as the first had to be replaced. And the remote kind of works when it wants to. We are planning on up-grading to a real home theater unit in the near future, as well as upgrading our speakers. As far as those wall-mounted propane heaters, I have never seen one in a fifth wheeler, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Personally I wouldn't use one; they scare me. If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me or ask right here on the forum. Lots of help! Betcha can't wait for that RV to get there!

Where would you install a washer? I have no room. The DVD should be able to control 3 zones, main, bedroom and outside, or all. I never heard of wall hanging propane heaters, becarefull not any real backing in the wall's. We have had a 8289ws for 5 years, great floor plan and unit.

We have seen a Euro cruiser 5th wheeler which is a very similar kitchen lay out they had installed a Zanussi 3kg washer under the worktop removing a set of drawer( not sure if drawers or cupboard) on the dividing wall between kitchen and bathroom, has the underbelly on the Euro cruiser isn't covered the pipe work is exposed assumably making it easy to retro fit a washer not sure on the 8289ws where piping runs has I would not want cut it to any alum struts ,if my memory serves me I understand the the main floor members run from front to back on the unit ,again not sure if cross bracing has be installed , wouldn't want to breach the underbelly covering.

The wall hung catalytic gas heater to which I refer was introduced to me by a Swiss couple a number of years ago they had installed 3 and very effective they were, the reason I asked this question is to assertion the best location ,I am considering installing a unit on the end of the free stand kitchen unit facing the lazy boys which would necessitate the relocation of the blown air vent to the front.

The DVD player zone is not related to areas around the unit, the zone I refer to relate zones round world there are 12/13 zones has I remember so the DVD player are locked to particular country , so for instance US is zone 1 UK is zone 2( there are other country's that also us zone 2) so DVD bought in US would not normally play in a UK DVD player and visa versa. However the caveat to this there are multi region( read zone has region) player's, however if the model and manufacture is known it is likely the zone can be change via the back door.

Why not consider the 8299BS?
It's for the most part the same floor plan and is prepped for a W/D.

In the UK we unfortunately have issues with DVLA in regards driving licences which mainly relate to weight of 5th wheeler and to a lesser degree the tow truck, our max train weight being just over 8 UK tonnes and this is only for people who passed there test in the 80s , to gain this licence you are required to take a additional driving test, to add to this a medical is require yearly after you turn 70.

So the 8289 ws is round about the max weight with a capable
tow truck this being a US truck, we looked the one you suggested but the dealer advised against, to stay within the law.

How about this one?

Google "wall mounted lp gas catalytic heater," click on "images," and you'll see lots of them.

hi
we are in the UK as well and have the same model you are waiting for.

the cd unit is IRV technologies and played our dvd's with no problem, although our previous 5th wheel did not.

you have hot air blown heating, which works well as well as an electric coal effect fire, we have posted on here and on the 5th wheel owners site in UK of the mod we did to the heating system, blocking off stair vent and re-routing to kitchen area, also blocking off half of vent in bathroom.

keep the refillable gas bottles, get a spare pigtail from who you are buying from [as to get gas flow are expensive ], fit a fill up point to side of 5th wheel, we got our parts from tinley tech, nr cambridge

i am not sure where you could fit a washing machine, pipe work would be in the way under sink, although i think your model is slightly different to ours in the kitchen area, yours should have a tall larder by the refrigerator, we dont have that but have more counter space, where the cupboards and draws back on to the bathroom wall, under is all pipes and water heaters.
we have a small twin tub, fits in the belly locker, is light and spins very well, we live in ours for 7 months of the year, we have a house in spain so over winter there, then travel back to UK for 3 months using a different route there and back each year

we are on the the 5th wheel owners site under tankerton so pm me or post on there if i can be of help.
ali and steve

I apparently misread your OP; I though you were looking for a catalytic heater, not asking if it used one.

It most likely comes with a Suburban LP gas furnace, as described by hitch hiker. I've attached a manual that covers many of Suburbans models, so you can get up to speed on it.

My answer is no, to many problems, plus condensation. What kinda of camping you going to do? Do they have hook ups in Europe? What temps are you going to be in, a 8289ws is really a 3 season camper at best. I find the furnace and fireplace will give you off enough heat. This is not a popular option here in the US. You might be better talking to someone in Europe. I have camped along time and never seen one installed on anyone's unit. I used to use a small one in a tent one year, and threw it away, never would I ever even consider it in my trailer. Hope that helps you.

The washer would go in the tall larder cupboard, the opening is 1/2 inch to small slide straight in, will need to remove back mold until I slide the washer in then back it go,s. When its in place its around 3/4 inch space on the side depth is no problem .Still to figure out piping run ,cold feed that's OK but drainage that's a challenge.

If your unit is the same as a 2012, the cabinet your looking at the left of the door above the converter? You would probably need to beef up the bottom of it for weight, also you have a small space that you could run your drain over to tie into the bathroom sink gray tank. If you remove the step risers you should be able to see the gray tank. Still space for can goods and food storage is very limited which would be a big trade off to install a washer that wouldn't even be big enough to wash a person's clothes in 1 load. Like I said I have never heard or seen this done on a 8289ws because of the limited storage, but good luck and post pictures of your installation.
